If I want a hug I've got a girlfriend or a mother. I might view everything sideways, but I don't see whats so special about hugging random strangers. To me, it seems like an act of desperation or a odd display of self-percieved moral superiority. As soon as I heard about this guy I disliked him (as you can see.) He just seems so Christian.

Im very dissappointed in you mushman, you cynical being. What the fuck has hugging people got to do with "moral superiority"?????? Its a very humble display of acceptance and common love. At first I thought this was gonna be cheesey, and it was very slightly a la fromage but cant you see the good in it? Our society has lost so much, we are all so closed off and unreceptive these days its good to see someone breaking boundaries.

I actually think your reaction to this says a lot about you and the way you perceive yourself and others! Why not have a good dose of mushrooms and think about this again. One of the things I hate about big cities like London is the way that everyone is so busy and uninterested in everyone else. Fuck, I witnessed a guy getting kicked in the head a few nights ago; several people just walked past as he lay unconscious on the ground. They werent interested. I had to call an ambulance despite being about the 4th person to witness it.

Im going to mission Hugman to come round and hug you till you relent.

It doesn't seem humble at all. If he wants to have a humble display of acceptance and common love he should treat everyone he meets with kindness and respect rather than walking around with a big sign.

Nobody is breaking any boundaries. After you hug someone a relationship doesn't magically pop into being. You touch them, and then you never see them again. You don't know who the person is, what their life is like, what their problems are - nothing. All you've done is touched them.

There are better ways to be open and receptive than wearing a big sign and grabbing onto arbitrary people.

Hugging randoms is breaking boundaries, as its not accepted in our society! Thats why you get pissed at it, and why the police came in the video, because its not accepted!

Are you scared that the hugger might have fleas, or infect you with some disease? Maybe you are homophobic and see him as a potential assault on your backpassage. Maybe you are uncomfortable with close human contact. Or maybe you just get annoyed with people doing things that you perceieve as pointless.

You are also not taking into account the emotional reaction to hugging - that is evident in several people in the video. It obviously meant something to some people, whatever your opinion, so I think that validates it any case.

Fireworks, yes tickling may well work better.

"Trying to make me do something, trying to make me feel something"

I think he was merely offering it as a possibilty. I dont think he really cares if you decline his suggestion.

I meant "he" as in Hugman. Understand now? "Decline" as in decline his suggestion of a free hug. I dont think he would care if you did. He's not shoving it in your face, forcing it on you, hes just offering it as a possibility, shoudl you want a hug. Because he realised that maybe some people want hugs and theres noone to hug them. And maybe he just wanted lots of hugs himself. Fair enough, IMO, I personally wouldnt hug him but it doesnt bother me, Im happy for the guy and his clients. I dont see why you feel so threatened by an effeminate man hugging people.

* Also it's technically not a "cuddle party", that would involve more people and some sort of party. Its just a hug.

Well we're living in the same world, it's only how you look at it. Theoretically it's not prohibited, but one can be very easily accused of rape intention or something like that when feels the need to give a hug to somebody they don't know.
And it happens because we're being taught to be afraid of people. And honestly, THIS SUCKS. Sure, there ARE people that can hurt you, nevertheless, more then half of the people who hurt other people is out of fear... this makes you wonder...

Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

If what this guy was doing was a taboo, I don't think he'd be on Oprah.
