It's a common expression regarding revolution and the comeuppance that comes with it.  Here's an illustration to help you understand what "against the wall" refers to here:

A revolution is usually when the oppressed rise up against the oppressors. If there is a revolution in the US, who would anyone rise up against? Would we attack the representatives that WE put in office? America's revolution will be an intellectual revolution. It will be one that everyone will willingly become a part of. With very little opposition, our revolution will happen peacefully.

Besides, it's pretty much old generations vs. young generations right now. Young people multiply, while old people die on their own, without our help. We're pretty much living with our grandmother right now. But in a decade or two she'll be dead and we'll inherit her house and we can do all the awesome stuff that her ignorant, racist ass wouldn't let us do.

When the oppressed rise up at the oppressers the oppressers press back with full force. Theyll try tooth and nail to stop the revolution, no matter how much you think the rev is gaining ground.

The leaders of the revolution will be the first one to get shot and this is whyfigureheads  (martyrs) are needed to take the bullet.

Itd really help if the OP explained more about what sorta revolution he was talking about specifically.

The revolution I was envisioning was all the anarchists/libertarians/vagrants whatever sayin "we dont need no stinkin government" and trying to out them entirely, rather than a revolution of the devoted nanny-state supporting tax payers sayin "ah we voted for the wrong guy...you gotta go".

Nothings needs to get taken down, especially the capitalism that helped get us this far. It will be an industrial revolution type of thing. It will naturally make its way into our lives, just like technology does, and we'll be able to recognize that it is a good thing.

If this revolution is supposedly composed of my generation I'd suggest we hit the bong a couple more times for good luck; we'll probably settle for a little comfort and an easy distraction like the usual human bunch. Our backs will break to the machine and we'll give in to our middle of the line jobs and start a family for the lack of joy anywhere else in our lives.

Edit: I can't tell if this is pessimism or realism.

I'm not pissed off at any particular generation because emotionally they are all the same. Kids always turn into their parents for the same reasons too. You're too young to understand all this now.

Flat screens, self-driven vehicles, video games, and hospitals already exist. They are only going to get better and more commercially available, which has been happening for decades. Predicting the trend to continue is an obvious and realistic assumption. Flying cars were an expectation of two inventions to converge, until we realized that flying cars would be impractical.

Well if that's what you were referring to then I was thinking far out ahead (something else, nevermind), except for the self-driven vehicles. I'm aware they are around but they've yet to be commercially realistic, the computer interface behind them simply isn't advanced enough to compensate for most complex human driving behaviors, especially those that resonate with danger. And even with the most advanced systems today, then you have the issue of passing on the cost to the consumer and again that's just not realistic for the masses.

Anyways, if humanity can't get beyond (in a realistic and "commercially viable" manner) the limits of silicon based technology then it's hard for one to see a repeat of the rapid technological progress that we've seen in the past 100 years (compared to other era's of humanity, at least what recorded history designates and what seems realistic for the most part) anytime soon.

Nothing is genuinely certain in life and just because we've seen a pattern in technological progression doesn't mean it will continue.

By the way I was just fooling around with you when I replied to you earlier

I'm aware they are around but they've yet to be commercially realistic,

This is due to economic reasons, not due to science's inability to create them--car companies make/save more money by gradually increasing the technology of their models.

The idea of heat death stems from the second law of thermodynamics, which states that entropy tends to increase in an isolated system. If the universe lasts for a sufficient time, it will asymptotically approach a state where all energy is evenly distributed. In other words, in nature there is a tendency to the dissipation (energy loss) of mechanical energy (motion); hence, by extrapolation, there exists the view that the mechanical movement of the universe will run down in time due to the second law.
