millions of years of evolution is the only thing that can change it
I can wait.

and who's to say if those changes would have occured ANYWAY, without all the bloodshed? maybe just give it some time? it might have taken a little more time but change is constant, spurts of change = stagnation in between.

the thing is, we don't have it all that bad right now... at least not as bad as some people WANT it to be... I have a vested interest in the system. and so do you, even if you don't know it.

revolution. the only thing that revolves is the meat grinder that is society. sorry to be so cynical. we are not revolutionaries. we are cogs in a machine that is always two steps ahead of us. welcome to the machine. The Machine. the 21st century global technocracy. want some?... it engineers its own revolutions, an illusion of real change. can you see it?

revolution. people rise. empires fall. people die. empires rise. people die. empires fall. people rise. people die. people die. people die.... revolution.

Did Cuba get a Freshness Date before it was sealed up?

Because, if it did, then we wouldn't have to bother thinking about it... we could just look on the bottom of the package and know when it's going to go bad.

Maybe after the shit-hits-fan thing clears up I'll buy a small parcel of land right on the ocean there. That would be nice. I'll have to invest in one of those super bug-zappers... we don't need to acquire some rare tropical fever now do we?

Read (or re-read) 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell.

Until we evolve beyond the concept that 'our side' must grab power, power which we will wield over our fellow man, we will continue to repeat the cycles of history - the tired old concept of political revolutions, of some grabbing power from some others. There is no perfect system, for every individual may have a different concept of perfection and others would have to be forced to conform. Perfection is highly subjective. Renounce power over your fellow humans, renounce the initiation of force to create a more perfect system. Learn to fully utilize the potential of human reason and appeal to a your fellow man's intellect instead of threatening his body or property to accomplish your goals. Propogate the memes which will change mens minds, not via the force of law but by the force of intellect. True revolution will not be accomplished without evolution in the way we deal with each other. We have a very long way to go.

Unfortunatly, Orwell's books do not hold the ultimate truth of human civilization. George was just a product of his environment, if he didnt have such a dreary life, he wouldnt have written any books.

evolution isn't about you or me. we are but cells in a living, evolving organism. I can wait, because I can see this. because my genes and memes will live on in this organism. because individuals don't evolve, populations evolve - the human organism evolves.

Wow, all the Cubans I've met didn't like the executions, torture, loss of civil liberties, the institutionalized snitch system and all the other wonderful things that come with a communist state including an economic system that fails to take into account human nature and hence squelches incentives to improve ones lot in life (unless one becomes a part of the police state). What must they be thinking, can't they recognize what it means to be free and living in a society that is a beacon of hope for crazy people?
