quankus, I think you misunderstood...what I said about losing potency is from MJ's website
http://www.mushroomjohn.com/psilocybecyanofibrillosa1.htm
it's the only reference I could find for dosages other than what pscyanescens just posted...wich seems fairly within range
so if they lose 70% of their potency after drying, then you would have to double or triple it compared with dried cyans.
that is, if these are truly cyanofibrillosa here in the bay area, right?
Quote:
They do not lose their potency after drying like auweia states, which should be an influencial factor becuase if it's a fact that cyanofibs lose a noticable amount of potency after drying in washington or oregon and these cyanofibs/friscosas in the bay area DON'T. Then isnt that an obvious sign that they arent the exact same mushroom.
I know they don't lose their potency here, but I tried saying that already and didn't work, but OK, it's cyanofibrillosa here and they're pretty weak when dried, so eat ALOT of them...LOL

i find them tobe about the same. to be honest. only thing i can say is the friscosas i have eaten all came on very strongly. tingles and shivers andd what not. and when i dosed my cyns on new years i got very drippy. (runny nose and teary eyes) but i get tha alot on mushrooms. so far i have had nothing but great times with my wild fruits. however a freind of mine ----> insists that cyans are devil mushrooms and that they give you bad trips. thats bull if you ask me. he just knows nothing about set and setting.

Whats wrong with the never ending thread if we are all learning here?
Can someone look at the mushroom in the bottom right. It doesn't seem to look like a typical cyanescens. I thought maybe a cyanofibrillosa, but there was a little wave as you can see in the pic below. But the color was the strange thing for me. It appears to be fresh, but the color is much more of a grey brown, opposed to all the others i found that day were much more red-orange-carmel-brown. You can see the babies in the picture and compare to that color too.
Here is a side view

Here is a really nice one more red-orange-carmel-brown found the same day.

I just learned the difference between friscosa(if it exists) and cyanofribillosa is that one loses potecy more when dried. Well i have come to that assumption should i say.
I am hopeing to learn what it is a took a picture of. It was slightly smaller then the cyanofibrillosas i found, could this be a friscosa? (once again if it exists)

I am sure that there is a direct correlation between wet potency and dry potency. It has nothing to do with species

what about that book pscyanescens quoted, psilocybe mushrooms of the world?...about half the potency of cyanescnes...fresh too?
that would need to be quadrupled if you dried it then, if they are cyanofibrillosa
if they're half as strong fresh, they lose another half when dried..
yeah that's getting pretty far out here

interesting.. i ate 1 gram cyans and it was kinda weird. i felt like i wasnt reaching "the point" and also it felt like i was way over it at the same time. a little uneasy come up in a public place by myself. chilled for a bit and then went home and had a great reflection period which was pretty bomb. i ate 2 grams of friscosas/fibs/ whatever the fuck you wanna call them( i think they are unique to the bay area, of course there is evidence that they are the same species as fibrillosa, but at the same time theres equal or more evidence saying they are not). anyways ate 2 grams and tripped balls. there is no comparison to cubensis. also varied greatly from cyans. more visuals in the friscosas. more body with the cyans. i dont recognize them as the same mushroom anymore than i recognize what is being called fibrillosa in oregon as the same as what we have here. people are saying they are cyans, people are saying they are fibrillosa. they dont look like cyans and they dont share spore charecteristics with fibrillosa. the classifications and observations used to map a species of fungus(esp. spore charecteristics) cant be simply ignored to suit your argument.if you want to change the basis of scientific classification, thats another issue. people that live in or around the bay area have every right to be excited that first of all 1. psilocybes are present here. 2. there is a possible new species among us that apparently hasent been found and recorded anywhere else except the bay area. facts are facts.
Name:psilocybe Friscosa Origins:san francisco, california Sporeprint:purple/brown cap:caramel turning gold/yellow with age, convex, 1"-4" stipe:short 1"-2", bruising blue, hollow edibility: hallucinagenic as fuck. known by all who eat them to not be taken lightly.
lacking detail, but i expect guzman to use that in his next book

I am not saying i doubt you.... but where did you get this information?
facts are facts but sources are required to prove this without doccumented experiments.

he made it up. spore characteristics?
Quote:
1. psilocybes are present here. 2. there is a possible new species among us
well, that much is true. I don't know where he came up with the rest or how/when it became a fact though.
people here tend to do that alot.
the potency chart in stamets book is way off in places, it's been gone over here many times. using it to make an assumption about mushroom identification based on potency is pointless. I see that wont stop anyone from trying though.
the mushrooms I've picked up here and ID'd as cyanofibrillosa were certainly more potent than the chart suggests. and if I posted pics of them claiming they were from the bay area I'd have a bunch of overly presumptive mycological illiterates telling me they were definitely 'friscosa' .
but my point is, everyone still seems to be suggesting there is one 'fib/friscosa' and not a P. cyanofibrillosa and a P. whatevertheycallit or 2. you all recite this like it's common knowledge, for no good reason I might add. it's probably not the case.
your unknown bay area psilocybe(s) is/are probably not cyanofibrillosa (duh), but if that's the case, that does not mean cyanofibrillosa does not grow there. read that sentence 5-10 times, you obviously need to. not you pscyanescens .
the only place people are suggesting that is this site, and it's not based on any facts. it's shroomery induced confusion, plain and simple.
anyway, keep making shit up and throwing it around as fact , have fun kids.

I don't remember anybody saying cyanofibrillosa doesn't grow here.I went back through the whole thread and couldn't find anybody that said that. Cyanofibrillosa probably do exist, but people have been finding these instead

well, you said it there spores...they're probably not cyanofibrillosa. Sounds like we solved a major puzzle here, huh?
However, people here have told us that these are cyanofibrillosa, and that I'm just making things worse by saying they are not cyanofibrillosa.
To that, I would say it's making it worse by calling these cyanofibrillosa because somebody out there will think these are fibs, look at MJ's website, or some of the books out there saying these are half the potency of cyans and take twice as much as he/should and get suprised...and maybe not a good suprise either
even worse, these one this photo are twice to three times the size of normal cyanescens, so you eat four of those, and I don't want to be in the same room as you lose control of your bowels

here's an example of size comparison between this and normal size cyans..there are two cyans right above it in the photo

so if you were to call thise cyanofibrillosa, and they look at this website http://www.mushroomjohn.com/psilocybecyanofibrillosa1.htm
and then think '1 large specimen' fresh, they're in for a big suprise, because that one large sepcimen in my photo is too much for most people, and quite enough for 2 people

you say things like that, that would lead people to believe cyanofibrillosa does not grow there. I have to go to work so I wont bother digging other instances up, there are more though.
I can't believe I have to explain this to you.
keep it up.
