Blue Meanie, that would be great if you could look at these under the scope and post the results. I'd like to get your opinion on what they are. The original patch I found was decaying but the remaining specimens displayed extreme blueing and resembled Ps cyans. I took some woodchip spawn home and got another flush a few months later. They seemed unusual and didn't resemble traditional cyans. Also, when they fruited the temps were around 65 F. and they did so indoors with no trouble at all.
Drop me a PM, I'll send you a sample.

But you can sort of see, how the difference between these Stropharias, the wild friscosa photos from last year, and your photos is getting a little tougher

wow, this brings back memories...No that's not Treasure Island, but decent guess if you're not from here..teasure island is east of SF...this is south looking north...That's Mt San Bruno in the background and SF beyond it.
never found any cyans in the area, but ya never know..that would be neat to get a cyan shot like that someday
our shrooms come with a view

what an awesome thread.
Well these mushrooms have been found as far north as Humboldt area and as far south as Monterey Bay. But the mecca has to be the San Francisco Bay Area, which is why I named them 'CyanoFriscosa.' Before we were just calling them fibs or unidentified psilocybe. Now they at least have a name, offical or not.
Characterisitcs: short stems, usually not to thick either. They caps are meaty and not usually wavy, but sometimes are. More Potent than the cyans I've found and don't lose it after drying.
