Could it be that the Lord, watching you play your game, is actually helping to draw your attention by inspiring some of these ponderings?

God is a collective
Mutual Dream Network

not just some individual guy-
or to put it another way

imagine if in the sim game, you knew that eventually you would have to be those children you burned, and wife you killed.

would you still have done it-
maybe-
god does do stuff like that doesn't he?

but just because god allows children to be burned, doesn't mean he isn't benevolent

our bodies and our lives are just a tiny part of our being one with god in eternal heaven

Virtual reality emulates the reality we find ourselves in.

The computer simulation, which our consciousness created, is a direct replication of the virtual simulation we daily interact in, the simulation in which we drive down to the store to buy our groceries, exchange thoughts and feelings to another, or reflect on the origins of our own existence.

Our sphere or dimension that we consider real is not solitary. It is indeed just a tiny part of our being one with god in eternal heaven, as telepylus so clearly pointed out.

Surrounding and enclosing our world is yet another realm of being. It is a dimension beyond the planets, the stars, space, and time.

Complimentary to this expansion of reality cells are spheres that contract, all the way down to the atomic realm and beyond.

The computer simulation, is a mirror image of us, what we are made of, what we are part of.

Who knows if awareness and experience are replicated as well, and are reflected into the virtual landscape of cyberspace. Wouldn't this be a plausible possibility. Who are we to say what is possible or not.

Who's to say that we are not also part of a simulation inside a technologically created reality?

If we are, would our creators even know that we are aware and that we experience reality just as they do?

What's the radius of perception? How far can we reach for the known? How far away is the unknown?

Is the unknown known to any other than us?
Is the known unknown to any other than us?

Who knows?

I don't know, could it? We could ponder any meaningless possibility we like, but the fact of the matter is that we have no means by which to actually know if this is true. Speculation isn't spiritual.

I'd say God isn't so much the player who's controlling the character, but rather the programming language that runs the game.

it's karma in action.

how can you become God if you are a manic depressed 16 year old? You may of course inherit and control the real world through your mania and then that reaps effects upon your life, you being God of your individual experience whether you realize the full scope of control or not (and who knows how much control there is?)

one does not elevate above human by being stuck in human games of riches, murders, soap operas, etc.

I'm not sure if you know much about karma. that is fine, but then if you haven't investigated it thoroughly it is advisable to not dismiss it.

Karma just means things happen to you, and you are responsible for them happening to you. It means if you are a careless driver you are likely to rear end someone. It means if you have a bad temper you are likely to get into fights. It's completey pragmatic and based upon the concept of the conversation of momentum. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Karma does not mean you kick a cat then you get run over by a truck and contract HIV. Karma means that you kick a cat out of anger, and now reacting violently out of anger is okay. So you develop an angry mind and foster angry characteristics. This impacts your entire life and subsequent lives until you learn to stop being angry. The more you nurture the habit the more it reaps fruit in your immediate and future circumstances. However extreme the habit is is however extreme the happenings will be.

Karma just means that all actions have consequences. If you kick a cat immediate consequences could be that the cat attacks and hurts you in defense. It could be that someone witnesses you kicking it, decides to hate you, and does something harsh to you in the future. It could be that you could even get arrested or fined for doing it. You could get away with it.

Then you have a plethora of long term consequences that stem from choosing to kick the cat. In choosing to do this you nurture thought habits which are not conducive to the cessation of suffering, but rather highly detrimental. If you let anger pile up in you to the point of physically harming a being who did nothing wrong to you, it means that you don't have a peaceful life in the first place. and then it makes it harder to have one each time you continue this behavior.

if done once it's one thing, if nurtured repeatedly you now have the persona and habits of an animal abuser, and becoming a deliberate animal abuser does not generally lead to having a peaceful and happy life.

karma then is a lot more present oriented, because each time you get really angry you have a chance to work on using the anger positively, and then you will gradually wean yourself of the deep habits in your brain that make you want to hurt kittens.... etc. it's very and entirely pragmatic.

So if you nurture lashing out in anger, when at first you have a choice not to. Now you are obligated to do it each time, and it becomes a hard habit to break which gives you suffering. Suffering means mundane unhappiness, boredom, dreariness, pain, sadness, blandness, dispassion, disease, suffering just means not being completely happy. So It may mean that you have watered and grown a massive temper and it gets you into a serious fight in which you get your ass kicked. It might mean that you just simply have to SUFFER because you have ANGER and anger is suffering.

And as soon as you let go of the habits in your being that make you react and lash out in anger against the helpless, your karma in any conceivable sense stops.... and then the only karma you would bear would perhaps be the karma that comes with things you have done that ARE fucked up, to other people, who are unable to forgive you.

If you hit your wife you have to deal with that forever. If she forgives you it's okay, if she doesn't this is going to harm you in some way shape or form. She may speak hateful horrible things about you to strangers. Then a stranger may meet you and judge you harshly because he has a false impression of you, etc.

If you are argumentative you get into arguments with people. If you are friendly you make good friends. If you are honest you live an honest life and enjoy the fruits of honesty.

We practice the eightfold path in order to purify our actions so that we do not suffer.

Your mind is your vehicle for the experience of your reality. However pure your mind is, your reality will be equally pure. If you make a habit out of hating niggers, you are going to suffer a lot around black people. They will suffer too because of it. It makes you more likely to get into conflict with black people. If you make a habit out of appreciating, loving, or thinking equally of african-Americans then every time you see a black person it isn't a big deal.

Imagine if you so so so so so hated black people that the very sight of them made your blood boil. That is suffering! That is immediate and instant karma.

Now imagine how radically different the future of a racist is than the future of a loving individual!? It's very simple. The racist constantly chooses (albeit involuntarily) to put himself into situations which see to it that his judgements are proven correct. Therefore the racist is preoccupied with being a racist and will inherit the fruit of his actions. Whereas the person who simply tries to flow in the Tao/Peace of things will have virtually no issues.

Karma means you are suffering. Suffering means that you aren't in a constant state of peace and euphoria. Choosing to do actions which bring about a disharmonious mind, such as things that even YOU would judge about YOURSELF calling them "fucked up shit", means that you will have a disharmonius life.

Karma is simply the conservation of momentum. It is scientific law applied to how our thoughts, habits, and tendencies produce results in this world.

You disrespect yourself if you disrespect others. You choose to live in a world of negativity rather than forgiveness. You are your only judge.

I hope you understand it. You will at some point, even if your understanding is totally different than mine. And it will help you greatly.

So as summation. You are a belligerant bastard. I say to you "hey dude the NY Giants suck" and you flip out and go berserk.

You are a friendly guy and I say to you "Hey dude the NY Giants suck" and you laugh and are like "what team do you like?"

Happiness is not possible in the former scenario. Happiness dependent upon anything external, such as satisfaction from making others suffer, is completely and totally conditional and fleeting.

Happiness resulting from drugs, tv, anything other than your own inner core, is temporary and unfleeting.

You are just going to reap karma based upon who you are as a person right now, it's not some mystical a grizzly bear breaks down your door and eats you for running over a kitten and enjoying it kind of thing.

the character in the Sims can eat drink shit fuck and die just like me. he even has emotional reactions. but it would be impossible for the Sim to comprehend that he does not pyshically exist, since he only exists inside the programming of the computer and game. there is no possible way that sim can transcend into the realm in which i occupy, even if he believes he can. and when that sim dies, even though i watched him his entire life, i can do nothing for him. i think that this could easily parrallel any belief in a benevolent creator god that exists as a seperate entity. but ask almost any monotheist, and they'll tell you what a loving god god is, even if its the day after a drunk-driver kills their loved one. maybe that god is just an asshole like me, who sent that drunk driver there, just to change things up a bit. thats all im getting at.

i understand and its very interesting. Why do you think God is responsible for what happens to us? Christian thought emphasises "free will" however free will is a very paraodixcal (and unreal?) thing.

Everything you just described is a lot simpler IMO if you take God out of it and substitute with karma. Why does stuff happen? Because stuff happens. Free yourself from the matrix, realize you are programmed, realize you aren't free, and realie that yes you eat sleep and die and you think you have control of it, but it's actually not you in the driver's seat.

How an intelligent being comes into this I personally don't see how......

There are many intelligent beings that are enslaving us, but they are simply our fellow humans. There are many things programming how and why and when and in what way we eat sleep fuck shit, etc, but again they are just our fellow beings.

But it's just semantics and nitpicking at this point. I get what you're saying.

For me, that is called pseudoscience. There is no proof for this statement. As you said...

Quote:

and there is a lot of "maybe" in there.

I do agree with a lot of the things you said, there are three points where I don't.

1. You can not speak so objectively of karma unless you got big proof about it.
2. I know people who hurt others and they don't care and the others never knew about it and they are all feeling good etc etc. You can not wait for something to happen to prove your point. It is very dangerous and the outcome may be greatly affected by...something which I don't remember the word for. It is when you want something to happen to verify your beliefs and you interpret every event you see wrongly to favour your subconscious need. Predisposition. That was the word I was looking for. That is not to say that you are but that there is tendency to become.
3. I doubt the morality of karma as a concept. I am not a good person in order to be treated nicely, I do it because I mean it. Else, it's just business. And if the point is not the morality but to indicate how this "rule" applies to all, again, there are many many exceptions so my outcome is...

...I would like to believe that this is what happens but unfortunately I doubt that it is true. That's just me though.

Stop playing with words please. Ok, if it suits you remove "big" from my statement. I've said all these things and this is where you got stuck? I say that I see no proof that what he said is valid. I also think that karma most probably is wishfull thinking combined with a invalid generalisation.+ what I said in the previous reply.

In other words, i was asking you what kind of proof you are looking for.

If you are trying to prove karma scientifically, you must be able to connect A to B. If they don't logically connect, then there is simply no scientific evidence supporting the concept of karma.

On the other hand if you try looking at karma existentially, realize that not everything necessarily must be seen objectively as a requisite for something to exist, then the very existence of a phenomena can be validated through experience alone. Because how does one experience something that is nonexistant?

And please excuse my riddles.

I realize that we all have our own existential beliefs and that we all experience reality differently. Therefore i wasn't dismissing your opinion in any way, but merely just poking it with a stick to reveal its content.

I was talking about proving whether karma works scientifically.

But I would be very interested to hear your opinion on how karma can be validated on experience alone.

..also,
Quote:

could you give me an example so I can be sure of what you are referring to?

Re: God and The Sims [Re: Shroomerious]

I validate the existence of karma,

Quote:
Karma just means things happen to you, and you are responsible for them happening to you. It means if you are a careless driver you are likely to rear end someone. It means if you have a bad temper you are likely to get into fights. It's completey pragmatic and based upon the concept of the conversation of momentum. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Quote:
Karma just means that all actions have consequences.

because i simply experience things happen.

That's all the proof there really is. What more is there than the fundamental fact that if i push a marble with my fingertip, it's going to start rolling. I think that in itself is already the big proof. You and I don't need to be scientists to know that.

I must ask though, do you truly understand the idea that lies behind the word karma? Because if you don't then we are cleary on two different trains here..

Re: God and The Sims [Re: AlteredAgain]

Okay I lost a very long post.

Karma is a tool. You are right that when adopting a belief system you filter out anything that would strike it as wrong... unless the belief system encourages purification of the mind. If you follow Buddhism then it sort of does. It depends on how far you go. Meditation is for clearing the mind of any single thing at all so you can just see things clearly without labels. And the Buddha himself said to be fundamentally critical of authority, and that his teachings are just a boat, they aren't needed once you reach the other shore.

Now here's the neat thing, was there even a Buddha? It doesn't matter. He gave you a tool. Now was there a Jesus? That matters a ton unfortunately, though he also gave us tools.

Anyway I ask when do we not do this filtering? Science often clouds man from spirituality. Psychedelics have been referred to by a word that denotes the induction of insanity [i forget what the word is, hallucinagen comes to mind but that's not it]. It is interesting that our society's notions of insanity overlap with some society's notions of spirituality.

While some society's definitions of insanity would probably involve ritual observation of repeated events like oh say, boobs slipping out of a bra at a superbowl..... and would probably think it ludicrous to vest so much interest and power into someone just because they pretend to feel emotions and get payed a lot of money to do it.

and they might think it insane that while we forbid the use of their sacred plants, we force children on amphetamines and adults are highly medicated on all sorts of drugs.

The Native American looks at a cooking pot and sees the materials the pot was made of. The fact that it brings them food. The fact that without it they would be without food. The fact that all things are interconnected [and boy do i need to study for this class......] the white man just sees a pot, doesn't care.

Which is more fulfilling, seeing a pot as sacred or a pot as mundane? Because it can be either depending on your belief set, why not have a belief set that allows you to experience wonder, that allows you to feel emotions?

Is a cooking pot God? Does it matter? If you feel that it is then that is so extremely special and holy for you, and it is right. (though trying to convince yourself it is may not work) Perhaps it is more dangerous to think that a cooking pot is not God.

Now so I mean, I don't want to be biased there is probably a better way to say this. But I mean, you have to ask yourself ultimately, what lense do you want to use to see reality? Ultimately it's best to just see reality, however it is. But there are so many different ways.

The ways of the depressed makes reality terrible.
The way of the lover makes reality exciting. The way of the tripper makes reality very very interesting, and perhaps highly subjective.

The way of the satelite is to be programmed by the collective media mind and to transmit and reinforce the media mind's opinions.

So really all karma is is a tool. It's meant to help you understand your actions and how you will reap results from them, so that you can make the best choices in your life to have the best life possible.

Further to this, in religious context, it is a system of extrication from the world of suffering. Whether you want to take it in juxtaposition to religion or not is your call. If so you have a pragmatic system of beliefs, that simply state that you need to be the best person possible (the 8fold path, right mind, right action, right right right etc) and that your are directly responsible for your experience of reality (karma) and that however you choose to live is how you will live life.

To debate karma we would need to debate whether or not all actions have consequences. To me you cannot act without react so it seems pretty solid that karma exists. Then we have to define karma as simply the process of how your present impacts your future based upon your actions, choices, decisions, thoughts, etc.... and if these two assertions are agreeable then I advise exploring the concept of karma because its quite interesting and helpful.

just like choosing to bicycle builds up your strength, so too do subtle actions build you into something new, but still yourself. choosing to consistantly make more effort to love? choosing to stagnate? choosing to spiral downward? choosing to say fuck it?
