depression is not something you can get out of by eating something. it's an eventual realization that your life situation is not as bad as you though it would be. to this end, shrooms will show you something which might alert, but not serve as experience for you. depression must be conquered by the mind.

Shrooms.. my opinion is that you should only take them if you truly feel confident and want to have fun with it or try to explore life. Not to try to cure yourself.

depression is a state of mind, not a disease. Shrooms can only deliver you at the welcome mat of introspection, not a full catalyst for self enlightened cognition.

man, don't take shrooms if you're feeling down. I've done it twice now and both times were horrible. Of course, I wasn't in the best setting either. I think of shrooms as an emotion magnifier and that's how I decide when it's a good time to trip.
My first trip got me out of a big hole though and I loved life after that for many months.

Isnt Depression also caused by a chemical imbalance?! I seem to remember a certain "Empatheogenic" Drug fluxing with seretonin receptors and such, actually draining the dopamine levels stored in your brain (Happy Chemical :crazy2:) which redically causes post depression. Im talking of coarse about MDMA / "X".  I have read that the psilocin/psilocybin concentrations produced by "Mag - Mushrooms"  also effect serotonin and dopamine release. Although, I've never dropped so low off of a shroom high as I did off of the E.

I definately think, theoretically it would bring you out of that depression (if minor), ONLY if in the right setting and atmosphere (no slow, sad music, or sad people, or focus on negative thoughts.) Allow yourself to formulate an actual "Playlist" of songs and things to search into before you take your dose, this way you can be assured you wont slum back into the slums...^_^

I would never recommend this as a self proscribed anitidote for your depression, like others have said, the dose which you used to pull you into that positive perspective, could ironically make you hit the ground much harder next time..self induced substance dependancy is somtimes very difficult to break.

This article gives a fairly indepth refrence to effects, biochemically, on seratonin and dopamine factors. Have a good read, might clear some things up. Even THC in Pot effects these chemicals.

I never take shrooms when I feel down. That would just fuck up your whole trip, but I always felt like it would, don't actually remember what happened...
