different coloured buddha's

What do the colours represent, can anyone enlighten me on this? And I saw an image of something that denoted a family tree of buddha's, which in the top added up to one bigger imaged buddha. I was also confused about this??

science philosophy meditation and mnemonics use
red for fire..........................energy
white or light blue for water...connectivity
green for air........................movement
and ochre or yellow for earth...extension
deep blue represents space......voidness

in the "pahtheon" the buddha rupas (rupa means form)
are named. more mnemonics is piled on such that
you can spend an entire life learning "dharma" from
what has been written, and painted as well as from what
is happenning - the later of which is the direct route to
enlightenment.
