I talked to Buddha
    #4479212 - 08/01/05 01:19 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

So I was tripping the other day.  I was walking through a tunnel and as I did, I noticed buddha was in one of the rocks.  It sort of surprised me that he was there.  All the other rocks looked like various problems being manifested, like self doubt, laziness, etc.  But there was buddha.  I said "I'm surprised to see you here." and then he said some stuff about "well, thats how it is."  So I left.  But then I was like, wait a second, I was just talking to buddha fucking christ here.  I should go talk to him some more.  I could probably think of some more questions.

So I asked him what he was doing in the tunnel, and he patiently pointed out that the tunnel probably symbolized things that were causing me attachment, and that I must be getting a bit attached to buddhist thinking.  He said that the secret is that for most people, they don't want to face the entirety of (the truth/reality/god) and so visionaries must guide them.  But, he also said that each age needs it's own visionaries who do face this entity.  His message was the right thing for the right time, but for my situation, he said it was the wrong time.  Instead, he advised me to look at the different religions of the world as sort of variations on a theme, and then make my own.  Not L ron hubbard style, but something personal to actually connect me with (truth/reality/god).  He said I should look at the various systems with an understanding that they lay out the same truth in different languages as appropiate for different times, and that in order to find the actual (truth/reality/god) I have to synthisize it myself as what is right for me at this time.  His other advice was that this was a dangerous path, and that self hate in particular is something to watch out for.  He said noting synchronicity was worthwhile.  Finally, he warned me that I must be super critical of the entirety of my experience.  Even my most profound mystical experiences must be rigorously examined at every level and not accepted without reason.  For example, I have this experience of buddha telling me this, but I can't really believe I was actually talking to buddha since a character in the illuminatus trilogy said the same thing about criticizing your own mystical experiences to get closer to the truth.

Well, a lot more happened on that trip, it was a real metaphysical mindbender for me.

But thats all I have time to post right now.

Pretty cool.  The Universe asks just one question of us. "How much can you take?". Not many people like that question. And watch out for that ol self hate bugger. To think you're the greatest and to loathe yourself are both forms of indulging in self-importance. When one is focused on the self so much, one misses the amazing mystery of life being played out all around at each moment.  :psychsplit:

I'd say that you have no reason to disbelieve your experience, as long as you can understand your experience in a logically-acceptable manner.

What I mean is, (in my opinion...) your perceived "buddha" was a manifestation of your own subconscious trying to send helpful messages across the "divide" between the different parts of your mind.

These messages are probably re-interpretations and "connections drawn" between concepts you've already heard, but perhaps needed to hear again to keep your life headed in the direction that you "know" it should be going in.

Since it takes no extreme leap of faith, this logical analyzation of your situation would allow you to integrate the experience without doubt.

The only faith you need for this analyzation is faith that your subconscious exists as a tool capable of problem-solving.

And, perhaps more importantly, because the mind is such a powerful tool that we have such limited understanding of, you basically end up with a paradoxical result in the end... because it can both be "explained in a logical manner" and yet not at all, since we don't really understand the systems behind this surface logic that we've come to use as a substitute for truth.

What that all means is that, despite having a loose understanding that allows one to integrate the experience, they can still find the wonder and amazement therein.

...two cents...

I never stated that there was anything 'wrong' with it.

Making assumptions?  You'd better check yourself.

Ego wound or something FIREWORKS?

Really though:

Its taking up space where creative input could be placed.

As the meaning of sentances/words can be taken many different ways, I think its important and sensible to consider how your communication may be taken by the readers.

To communicate in tongues doesn't really communicate anything.  I suppose the occasional jargon can be amusing but when its persistant as in Gomps case; it becomes fruitless and irritating.

Or, If you don't want to hear anything back why be here?  Why not just go and shout at a tree???

Oh well just the mystery of Gomp.  Its not like I want him/her to fuck off or something just maybe explain his-self more?

Gomp and I have had our communicative differences.   It's hard to understand the place he is writing from sometimes, but at least his posts make you think, and wonder.  :mushroom2:

I understand gomp. I am not saying he doesn't speak in esoteric gibberish. I am saying, some people do understand it.

Gomp is one of the few writers here who makes me have to stop and think. His words take me to another plane of understanding, of viewing life. Many of his writings have taken me beyond blocks and walls I had up and never knew were even there.

His words paint pictures. Reading gomp is to be experienced like going to an art museum. You don't run through it. You stop at each piece and contemplate the artwork. A picture can speak a thousand words.

I'm probably his biggest fan here. You can just put him on user ignore Dano. I enjoy his contributions. Look at his ratings. Others do as well.

It's okay to have your own opinion. I wouldn't begrudge you of that. This board is made up of hundreds of members and some of us really appreciate gomp. I think he has the most creative mind here based on what creative thinking means to me.

How can a post take up space? This forum can handle as many posts as people put up. It's not like this forum only allows for 10 posts with 10 replies each a day. Even if it did, who is to say who's is more worthy? There's room for everyone here. The diversity is what makes this forum so awesome. It's what pulls us back. Let it go and put him on user ignore if he irritates you that much.

This is kind of embarressing...but speaking of the Virgin Mary, I had an image of her flash vividly before my eyes during a self-pleasuring session at the moment of climax. She was wearing a blue robe and was just staring at me with stained glass behind her, the image was very clear and real-looking. 90% sober at the time (mildly high).

I still wonder why she popped to the front of my consciousness at that particular explosive moment.
