Swami as the next Buddha :)
    #2236116 - 01/12/04 03:13 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Gautama, in my humble opinion - was highly motivated to spread his gospels regarding suffering and attainment of states behond human conditions and affairs - based on the widespread ignorance and its effect he noted around him.

Having seen all kinds of detrimental practices and blind beliefs, Gautama spent his time on this planet finding a path that could escape this pattern of ignorance, and liberate mankind.

Although, in my opinion, just like Jesus of Christ's original teachings, Gautama's true teachings were widely misunderstood and a good bit has been added to his original gospel (IE - the existence of Buddhas before him, the belief of his ascension into worlds beyond ours (he didnt believe in the human soul))

Having said that, I can see certain distinct similarities between Swami and Buddha - and it's almost perfect how the people, including me, react around Swami. No one takes his ignorant-shredding technique lightly, as we all tend to cling to our beliefs and opinions rather strongly, almost as if are our blanket of comfort being taken away from us by Swami, who is forcing us to mature.

Swami - your posts are well-appreciated, and arguing with you usually provides me, and I'm sure other people the need to delve deeper into what we say, and to see if indeed their is actually truth in our statements and beliefs.

Keep of the good work.

I don't know about him being the next Buddha, but I agree that he certainly adds something to the community by his merciless skeptical inquiry.

Well, the thread title was an attempt at humor, which I all-so-often fail at

Quien es this "Swami" to whom you refer?

Yeah, but am I the young skinny, searching Buddha or the old fat; contented Buddha (or is that Elvis or Marlon Brando that I am talking about)?  :nut:
