If my husbands grandmother wants to say a Rosary over her husbands grave because she thinks it will help him in the after life, why should I stop her from doing it if it brings her joy and peace? It's her life.

And if the vast majority of posters in S and P wish to mix their spirituality in with philosophy, challenging debate, scientific and personal life aspects, its their life.

Spirituality involves all aspects of life and experience. The entire concept of one's spirituality not being open to review is bogus.

Speaking of, that recording is now astonisingly unrepresentative of my playing as it now stands, so I'll just make a new one.

Every six months or so, I suggest A Koombayah Forum where only sharing and no debate is allowed; hence everyone is happy.

Seems some people get more joy from bitching than to take a few minutes to send a PM to the Administrator and ask for a new forum. I am sure he would comply.

I used to know a girl named Joy and she was always bitching too. It didn't make sense. Kind of like your post. New forum?

Well after my long stay in these forums I've come to a number of conclusions.

First, the same topics pop up allll the time, and for us old timers it can really get annoying. But of course you have to realize there's a lot of new blood here, unexperienced people who need a good start just like we did.

Secondly, people are right, this form is too secular. I support critical thinking with things like science, and to a large degree philosophy. However, many thing experienced are truly ineffable, they defy 'normal' experience, and therefore people must use metaphors and creative language to give an illustration of certain states and divine realizations.

Oh and what reallllly annoys me, is when new folk come in here and suddenly act like they own the place. ARRRRRGGGGG >:(

Who hasn't noticed this forum turned into the science-tech forum, pub and OTD.

Whats the surprise? nearly everything related to spirituality (the intangible) and religion (beleifs) gets shot down because it doesn't have a science fact base or is somehow holding science progress back or its delusional and derived from mental illness.

Whats left but general every discussions on life philosophies and sex? They can't even be considered true philosophies as the dictionary says that philosophy is about reducing everything down to nothing.

It's no surprise to come here and find posts now with "nothing" content They have been stamped with board approval for being acceptable here.

We have the Pub, we have OTD, we have science and tech. Why do so many want to keep turning this forum into those?

Religious types know their views are unwelcomed here. They are halting science progress and called superstitious and fearful. Philosophy types are accused of mental masturbation. Spiritual types who only have the intangible experience to discuss are reduced to mentally il delusional types having chemical imbalance reactions as the cause for all of their intangible spiritual/paranormal experiences and are accused of being in fear.

What is left to discuss but Ass Sex?

and the weather

It's cloudy and rainy here in sunny Tampa Florida AGAIN today!

You took the keys out of my fingers, thanks !
Well, i've always been a proponent of splitting S&P, and this thread only serves that purpose, why ? --->

I can see philosophy being subject to scrutiny. The personal experience of spirituality should not be subject to scrutiny in a critical sense.

Exactly ...
You don't need to prove or review spirituality, you just need to understand it. Can we philosophically criticize spirituality ? Yes, but the big question is, do we need such an enormous weight of this critics in S&P ?

The forum is what the members make it...no more...no less.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Everything has a million aspects that can be scritinized. Whatever you answer to that has a million aspects that can be scrutinized too. So you have one starting post about X followed by 50 posts about Scrutiny. End of discussion, start of debate.

10 CHALLENGE EVERYTHING
20 GOTO 10

Flush! your C64 screen fills up and your computer is tied up to maximum capacity that can only be ended by insistently tapping Runstop and finally hitting the reset button.

With the C64 you had such things as Runstop and Reset. Here on Spir & Phil you have "the right to strangle any discussion that does not consist of challenging".

What happens if you suggest Spir & Phil is better off with less aggressive challenging? HA! it gets challenged!
Challenging beliefs is the only thing that runs unchallenged on this forum. It is the major thing that happens in most contentful threads.

And no: challenging beliefs should NOT be the driving force of a Spir & Phil forum. 3/4 of all humans believes in Deity. Deity is challenged most fiercely of all here, while everyone knows it can NEVER be "proven" and so the core beliefs of at least 75% of all humanity would be slugged to a pulp if they set foot in this place.

Put the mp3 of "these boots are made for walking" by Nancy Sinatra on your media player and set it to cycle. See how you feel after a few hours. That is precisely what has happened to Spir & Phil and until the sameold mp3 is turned off Spir & Phil will be past its prime.

dumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdum.....

Well said, imo.

S&P is a comfy old pair of slippers - and besides I need to maintain the dubious honor of "Post King".

Actually it's longevity that matters.

Any old monkey can tap, tap, tap on ye old keyboard day after day..
I must say however, you are one of my favorites here. I have refused every request to "bust a cap in yo' ass" and that's the truth.

S&P just keeps rollllllin along.. None of us are indispensible and each of adds our own flavor to the gumbo that is S/P.

Same as it ever was..
