I have an Arturia CS-80V virtual synth. It is awesome. My favorite for its filter depth and expression.

Don't tell me you have a real one? (To those not in the know, it is a v-e-r-y expensive and rare Japanese synth used by many top musicians back in the day.)

"Is that not enough"

Sure, then don't talk about it being past it's prime.  I do think that Jiggy makes a good point, once the debunking is over there's not much to talk about other than sex and the weather.

She left out drugs, but that is pretty well covered in here.

Agreed, the people in here are good folks for the most part and I like most of them too.   As for friends of a lifetime, well if you met them in real life maybe but come on now...

Do you understand the nature of critical thinking?

"Do you understand the nature of critical thinking?"

As a scientist, sure.

What does that have to do with spirituality?

I can see philosophy being subject to scrutiny. The personal experience of spirituality should not be subject to scrutiny in a critical sense.

In my humble opinion.

Critical thinking should be applied to philosophy. All of the great philosophers promoted critical thinking. Yes, it can also be applied to religion and paranormal. If someone comes in here and declares that they can alter space/time with their lucid dreams....maybe some critical thinking should be applied before we get impressed.

I have had personal experience with lucid dreams, but only at a time in my life when that was my fervant focus and belief.  I don't know about altering space and time, but I surely did change my dream experience for the better being able to move around at will and see what I wanted to see.  Flying is good...

How can we burn S&P topics to stay warm?

he he he, I have seen many go up in flames and fuel heated debates. I have no doubt people have walked away from here "hot" or became hot headed. Other have had their hearts warmed by some of them.

Lunar, I was thinking about your comment about life begining at 50. I was thinking back to when life begins. We are full of curiousity and are all about discoverying our world. It would make sense that life ends "metaphorically" when we stop being curious and stop making discoveries.

Tell me about it, one of many reasons why i have infrequent posts.. Sometimes a ball gets movin. But for the most part, its a repeat, like a broken record that everyone forgot to turn off. We should have an archive of all the same past threads, so everyone can see them. Like have different categories... that would rock. May decline the number of the re re re repeats.

Yes, or when the body is sick such as what my dad is going through. :thumbdown Thankfully he has pulled through the worst of the storm, but those waters keep rising. It's not fun to watch but such is the way at nearly 80.

Mentally, he is as sharp as ever, curious and always learning.

i have only been on s&p a short time. but i like seeing how people's thoughts get developed from thread to thread, how a thought from one thread finds its way into another one, and keeps mutating and evolving.

there's thoughts developing horizontally through the threads as well as thoughts developing down each individual one.

example: "debunking" meets is "s&p past it's prime"

Why yes indeed...it rains two or three different times in Miami every day! Land O Goshen! Weatherman says air from the Yucatan pushing limitless moist gulf air up to Florida, from an unusually southern jet stream. Why, it reminds me of the "evil wind" that Hurricane Andrew was referred to. I was thinking, the Mesopotamian demon Pazuzu (from Exorcist fame), but that was a North African 'evil wind.' Hmmm, just makes one wonder at the Biblical 'spirit of the air' notion...Global warming - a conspiracy of metaphysically evil minds...yeah, that's the ticket...

Maybe we are only meant to be in one place for only as long as we can learn from it, and then we are meant to move on.

If you stay in a place that consistently repeats its previous teachings, are you still here because you are still learning?

Or are you still here because you are comfortable?

Or are you still here because you don't want to move on to the next place in life where you will learn even greater still??

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Don't understand what kind of truth you can get at in an S&P forum on a site like this.  Go find an esoteric philosophy forum or gnostic group  or what have you.

This forum got tired very quickly for mine own heart.

Whats the surprise? nearly everything related to spirituality (the intangible) and religion (beleifs) gets shot down because it doesn't have a science fact base or is somehow holding science progress back or its delusional and derived from mental illness.
.
Religious types know their views are unwelcomed here. They are halting science progress and called superstitious and fearful. Philosophy types are accused of mental masturbation. Spiritual types who only have the intangible experience to discuss are reduced to mentally il delusional types having chemical imbalance reactions as the cause for all of their intangible spiritual/paranormal experiences and are accused of being in fear.

I really have nothing to add to that: its the core of what's going wrong here in spir & phil. Its not an open forum anymore because some people have the "philosophy" of challenging everything and then challenging the answers and sticking with the thread.

Quote:
It seems to me that many don't develop their "spirituality" to a point where it can stand scrutiny. There are some very spiritual people here IMO. They can handle anything that comes along.
.
But if you're not thought out, can't defend, or don't believe in your path; well then watch out.

Everything has a million aspects that can be scritinized. Whatever you answer to that has a million aspects that can be scrutinized too. So you have one starting post about X followed by 50 posts about Scrutiny. End of discussion, start of debate.

10 CHALLENGE EVERYTHING
20 GOTO 10

Flush! your C64 screen fills up and your computer is tied up to maximum capacity that can only be ended by insistently tapping Runstop and finally hitting the reset button.

With the C64 you had such things as Runstop and Reset. Here on Spir & Phil you have "the right to strangle any discussion that does not consist of challenging".

What happens if you suggest Spir & Phil is better off with less aggressive challenging? HA! it gets challenged!
Challenging beliefs is the only thing that runs unchallenged on this forum. It is the major thing that happens in most contentful threads.

And no: challenging beliefs should NOT be the driving force of a Spir & Phil forum. 3/4 of all humans believes in Deity. Deity is challenged most fiercely of all here, while everyone knows it can NEVER be "proven" and so the core beliefs of at least 75% of all humanity would be slugged to a pulp if they set foot in this place.

Put the mp3 of "these boots are made for walking" by Nancy Sinatra on your media player and set it to cycle. See how you feel after a few hours. That is precisely what has happened to Spir & Phil and until the sameold mp3 is turned off Spir & Phil will be past its prime.

3/4 of all humans believes in Deity.

And most base it on nothing more than the tales they were told as children.

Most people also believe that jail is called for in cannabis use.

Let's all go with truth in numbers as that is indicative of deep-thinking and not populist brain-washing.
