I liked matrix 1 a lot. It was realy like some of my thoughts had been made a movie. Matrix 2 & 3 not really...not as much as the first one.

yup. Wong Kar Wei is dynamite, one of the most ripped-off directors of the last decade. Fallen Angels is choice, same with "In the mood for love". many under-40 filmmakers nowadays owe alot to "fallen angels".

I forgot one of the greaaaaaaatest movies I've ever seen. It's "The Wall" from Pink Floyd. Extremely S&P style movie. Once I was a bit shroomed up and the movie finished and started again automatically and I saw the lion that roars before the movie starts and thought what is that?because I didn't remember seing it at first and anyway I saw the whole movie again.Great great great movie and animations and everything.

kijero...i probably spelled it wrong. its about a vagabond man and a little boy bonding while on journry to find the boys mom...it was pretty funny. tetsuo...a sprecial effects movie mixing metal, aggression, and has sexual undertones...it was in black and white.

I don't see what your beef is with Ghost Dog... it certainly wasn't a "commercial" film. There was nothing in that movie that appealed to the average consumer, and Forrest Whitaker isn't exactly a huge box office draw... I mean, c'mon, he did the outer limits (or was it twilight zone, I can't remember)! What attracted me to it was the fact that here's this cat living in today's society, but sticking to the code and making it work for him. To top off the movie, I thought The RZA's original score music was awesome.
As for the foriegn film buffs... that's all well and good, but it's just not my bag baby. Seriously, I absolutely despise reading subtitles. I did try to watch Roshimon, I just didn't enjoy it. I have a feeling that it would be the same with any other Kirosawa films.

" Seriously, I absolutely despise reading subtitles"
all I can say is that is weak and you are missing out on a huge, if not...integral chunk of art and culture.

tetsuo was made by shinya tsukamoto. he is one of the best underground directors in japan. all of his films are worth checking out. tetsuo2 - body hammer (tetsuo grows tentacles and takes on skinheads). bullet ballet (yakuza story). tokyo fist (boxing). gemini (nobody in this film has eyebrows, it is vey disconcerting) and snakes of june (aka roku gatsu no hebi)

Weak eh? It's just a personal preferance... a matter of choice. I prefer to be entertained by movies that are in English.

no, its a sign of intellectual weakness, you arent able to concentrate on two things at once.
its not about preference, because anyone that would actually...choose not to experience the films of other societies is either a racist or lacking something upstairs.
It just takes a little effort firstrays, and then it becomes natural, like everything in life, now stop slacking your life away and hit the dirt.

"What is your favourite movie with a philosophical and thought evoking essence?" ----------------------------
It's hard to call it my favorite movie..
But it made it all come together...
No movie has affected me as much as this.
I am refering to: The Passion..
It was so powerful, actually, that it silenced me for brief period.
THAT, has never happened before.
