nice post... but I do think the "I" exists, not so much as a seperate entity, nor is it's determination focused on seperation, but on distinction. We as individiduals distinguish what's best for us on our prefences, only suggesting "I" in the sense of humans being self-appreciating, and most motivations being for themselves, whether its percieved as altruistic or anything else.

(Guess I'm suggesting the "I" in the sense of Individual)

Simply put, not so much the conceptual nature of how we view ourselves that influences this, but more in line with being subservient to our desires primarily over someone elses... Call it an ego, call it whatever you want, it's their for a purpose, without our generalized notion of self (I fully agree with you about the fact of the being being able to fully comprehend their own nature) we wouldn't get to far.
