it isn't about you

most people come on this philosophy forum to learn knowledge, find enlightenment, or teach what they know, or what they think they know. they come here trying to get something out of it. "what can you do for me?"

well, guess what. life isn't about you. it's not about me. it's not about us. do you think the universe cares about you? maybe a part of it does, but mostly not. try to stop thinking about your needs and desires for once. your ego will never be satisfied, so why give into it. your supposed significance is only significant to yourself.

if your existence is the center of your focus, ask yourself why. take a good look around you. what do you see, hear, feel, smell? these things are there to experience, but not for "you" to experience. stop filtering things through your ego. stop judging things. just experience. just be. the only "i" that matters is the "you" experienced by others.

Why do you need to "just experience" without your ego? I've experienced a lot of things that can only be savored with an ego, and it felt ten times better than sitting and watching butterflies. Be warned though, it takes effort and dedication to enjoy some of the finer things of the "ego".

Didn't your ego and all that it has grown to become present you with the motive with the support, and the emotional and intellectual backing required to make this post? You think that all this just happened to channel through your vessel at this moment, no I believe your ego drove you to this end to engage us here, with the sole purpose to percieve itself (you) as making some strive in your ambition (whatever they are). Drop the act and be honest atleast!

Sorry moog, but it's hard not to be a judgemental sentient being focused on themselves... yet suggest otherwise... the I is what sustains us, and what motivates us... without the comfort of the I, then the individual doesn't look to the function of the "we".

You're suggesting that we attempt not to be human.

In order to truly experience it, do we not experience it as the self primarily? How we should we experience the influences that befall us, if not from the standpoint of us being unique entities and individuals?

Is your self, not thinking in terms of the individual through your writing? Is it motivated by an external force not conected with your being? I don't say how you could suggest this...  :borg:

(I agree with the ego bit, it needn't be solely focused on us, but attempting to cut something off that everyone has, is rather senseless, and without benefit.)

i'm not without an ego. thus at some level there's a motive. there was hope, from the get-go, that this would not focus on me. it doesn't matter what "i" meant by writing this, or what "i" think. what's more important than what the words say is how they affect you, and what you experience as result of them.
