The Influence of German Romantics to Elias Fries' Mushroom Taxonomy

I was reading about Elias Fries and the influence of German romantics to his mushroom taxonomy. Can somebody enlighten me on this one please? What exactly influence? What about his taxonomy is considered "romantic"? Any links and/or bibliography will be greatly apreciated.

At least he has been to a seminar of nature-scientists in Berlin!

There is a book (In swedish) which also describes his relation with the romantic biology...
