All it takes is a handful of cells.

When you stop to think about it it's a bit terrifying. Like that movie Splinter. We should all be grateful that we're so unappealing to mycelium.

Some cool things happening in this tub. I want to say it’s the 6th or 7th flush. She just won’t quit!

Maybe worth noting for anyone who stumbles across this: I moved this tub to my garage (probably 60–65°F) because of wet bubble concerns, and the fruits have definitely been bigger since. Not sure if that's the cooler temps or just luck of the draw with later flushes, but thought I'd mention it.

I am definitely not growing ochras in this one. I must have mislabeled early on.

These are just regular PE right?

I'm a bit out of the loop on the latest thinking re airflow after spawning to bulk. I tend to use dub tubbed shoeboxes for my cube grows and a Dreamer tub for exotics.

I have some colonised and pinning ochra shoeboxes on the go and am wondering if it is worth carefully drilling out a couple of holes on the long sides (and taping with micropore) or just keep cracking the inverted top dub tub?

Or just leave them and manage surface conditions and use a larger gap than I might otherwise use for cubes?

Run 'em like cubes until they give you an indication you should do otherwise, IMO. A bit of fuzzy feet never hurt anybody. I've never had to do holes or anything my shoeboxes.

These little weirdos are clones from an in vitro brf puck pin. Not a single spore to speak of and only the thinnest wisp of a veil. Meanwhile the four tubs of MS culture the clone originated from are just overlaying and refusing to fruit over 5 weeks after spawn :shrug:

That's probably the brownest ochra pheno I've ever seen. To the point that I wonder whether it's an ochra at all. Overlay certainly leans ochra, but it's sporeless, plus I see a little party hat in the back on the top right, any chance it was a cross that reverted or something?

Banger tub fillout regardless.

Yeah, I’m definitely suspicious of it, but I’m not experienced with ochras. I cloned it off a puck that was inoculated with a print from a wild culture that originally came from Tree Frog, but, like I said, I’ve yet to get that culture to fruit in a tub.

It also started throwing a very vigorous second flush less than 48 hrs after I stripped the overlay and soaked. Working with it has felt a bit foreign all around to my experience with cubes.

I’m fairly meticulous and would like to think a labeling error is extremely unlikely, but anything’s possible, I suppose.

Mine is as tomentose as it gets. My first transfer had beautiful rhizomorphic growth and then all plates after didn't. Been chasing that rhizo for half a year (on off) with no luck, but I'll try sending some tomentose plates and hope that rhizomorphic growth will show up (have happened before).

Came back from work last night to the second flush finishing, and some were dropping spores. Subdecurrent gills were also more discernible on those. Mysteries abound.

Very unstable genetics but also a very prolific grower.

So, yesterday I started a new chapter with Ochra.

When I first started growing them, I wasn't tripping much. And, I made a big mistake that I won't make again, I cloned a plin from the swab plate and just trusted that it was the right culture.

THere was no overlay, and they fruited a lot. So win, right? Well, my lack of tripping enough made me not prioritize Ochras, and I grew a bunch of mediocre stuff.

I did start again from spores, I got both Blue Cap and Green Cap Phenos, but when I tried the blue cap, it was in an experimental fruit roll up recipe that didn't quite pan out, potency was lost in the process probably due to oxidation, psilocyn conversion and air/heat during dehydration, so I thought they were also bunk.

I recognize now that chocolates are the way to go for edibles. I tested a batch with molding chips with some leftover ground up Blue Cap Ochras. 2g chocolate.

They were actually quite nice, very lucid, enhanced colors and HD vision but not anything kaleidoscopic (which is my favorite). But a true lucid trip, I had some more frozen fresh tea from another batch.
So, my first growing experience with Ochras was a fail and I did not go to spores again for too long, and didn't test enough.

I think I will start again from cakes through MS, and see what happens. Are y'all finding more inner enlightenment or trippy psychedelia with your ochras?
