I haven't been around lately, life got super busy with work and study to try and get into another field of work next year. I had a couple projects going over the summer that I had to abandon as I basically have no free time.

I get the itch to grow something but I can't responsibly manage this along with everything else, so I'll probably just sneak in here sometimes to ogle other people's grows until I'm in a better spot to have a hobby.

Depending on your style and motivations, you could take it further as a side gig. Murals at cafes, out bar patios, etc.
Not an adreneline rush but it's legal and make some extra dough.

Exactly! I wasn't ever good enough to do stuff like that, but this is the positive thought process that turns something potentially 'criminal' into a paid gig.

Funny how this stuff works.. in the color of your skin and everything makes such a difference.

I'm a brown man. And one time I had the permission of a local business to paint a mural  on the side of their building. However the stupid Karen in the neighborhood that saw me had no clue I was commissioned by the owner of the building.

and decided to stick her nose in business that didn't belong to her.

She started to angrily tell  me how I was ruining the neighborhood and nobody wanted me around and all sorts of stupid shit etc etc.

she then proceeded to call the police on me. She refused to listen to me over and over again when I told her I was there being paid by the owner of the building to do such a thing.

The cops came and it was a huge thing.. I was about to be arrested until finally the commotion was noticed.. and  the owner of the building came out and straightened everything out.

Did the cops or the Karen apologize or realized they were wrong and being douches?? absolutely not!!

they basically just told me well you got lucky this time and most of the time we catch you people you don't have permission

Damn Hippie, that's rough. My sister is mixed and it always hurts my heart to hear stuff like this because all I can think about is it happening to my sister and me not being there.

I'm sorry dude =/ that's all I can really say. It makes me feel bad that people are like that to others. I don't even want to say 'people of color' because even though prejudice and dare I say racism affect those who are of color more so than not, it's the evil people and just plain malintent that really makes me sick. I know saying we all bleed red doesn't help anything.

Im mixed as well.  my mom is a  white woman.

One time I was at the mall shopping with my mom for Christmas and I stood in front of her in line with my arms full of clothes waiting to check out.

When it came to be my turn the person checking people out looked past me and asked very nicely if she could help the white woman behind me.

The white woman behind me who happened to be my mother smiled and very very graciously said no it's okay you can go ahead and help him I think he was here first..

The cashier still ignored me giggled a little bit and told my mother and no it's okay we can go ahead and get you taken care of in on your way.

Oh man.  you should have seen the cashier's face when my mom looked at her and said NO !  it's not okay.

This young brown man standing in front of me that you are choosing to completely ignore and discriminate against.

happens to be my child  we're standing in line together and everything he's about to purchase is about to be paid for by me..

American Cops are something else. I find joy watching YT videos where tyrant cops end up losing their jobs due to their abuse of authority costing the tax payers millions when a victim sues the shit out of them or their PD. Most of the time they just get a slap in the wrist tho,  Qualified Immunity is a bitch.

Man, I had some similar fuckery happen to me because I was hanging out with black friends.

My dad, bro, and two of our friends were at a .NET user group or some shit.  Bro and homies got bored, so we decided to wander a bit outside.  Cool night, might as well get our steps in and shit.

A pair of bacon mobiles hauled ass into the parking lot next to us and disgorged their contents.  Quartet of pigs--including the rare sighting of a sow!--came at us.  Asked us some basic bullshit questions bout who we were and what we were doin there.  We told em the truth.

Fuckers get this look like "yeah, fuckin GODDEM!"  Annnnd proceeded to arrest four kids.  Hit my largest friend's head against the roof of the pork carrier fo fun, standard pig shit.  Took us to, no shit, a fucking empty fire station.  Separated my brother and I from our friends, puttin us into separate rooms.  Both our friends were black and me and my bro are born and raised crackers.  Coincidence?  Hahahaha.  Sure.

So, come to find out, they thought we matched the description of some muggers they'd just heard about over the radio.  Cept, the mugging happened about 5 minutes before they apprehended us...and took place over 30 miles away.  But, pigs are stupid as fuck and didn't realize none of us could move at highway speeds ON FOOT (the way the muggers escaped) and had no vehicle to our names, not even any fucking KEYS.

They eventually let us go.  Didn't take us back, though, so we had to walk a few miles back...and found out we'd gotten fucking banned from the user group because they're as fucking inbred as the pigs.

I don't use certain words no more, but let's just say the admins of that group and the pigs were all some short bus ridin motherfuckers.

Man it's crazy how much  where you come from and if your poor is more then color in my opinion but it does make a huge difference

There should be a special stencil that you use when your work is done like some emblem or glyph that would signify that you had been racially profiled or harassed by police in that location while making it. Something that only you and other artists would recognize to warn others.
