They vary in size from flush to flush as well. The largest cap I’ve has was 4.5 cm and it was happily growing with its little buddies.
All semps.

Are you sure, man? If you hadn't said anything, I'd be harvesting these guys. This is the part of the grow where I am unsure.

The caps are curling up on these guys and it looks like they are starting to drop spores?

I always post this test done by Kirkeng when the question on when to harvest Subtrops comes up, here you go

Psilocybe semperviva, HVC (clone culture 1, early harvest 2 week maturation)
Psilocybin: 16.9 mg/g
Psilocin: 1.2 mg/g
Baeocystin: 1.1 mg/g
Norbaeocystin: .3 mg/g
Norpsilocin: 0 mg/g

Psilocybe semperviva, HVC (clone culture 1, late harvest 4+ week maturation)
Psilocybin: 23.4 mg/g
Psilocin: 1.5 mg/g
Baeocystin: 1.7 mg/g
Norbaeocystin: .4 mg/g
Norpsilocin: 0 mg/g

16/5/2026

24/5/2026

30/5/2026

13/6/2026 harvest

And this is the fast strain... I recently harvested my first Semperviva Tres Soles after 8 weeks and some of the mushrooms are still not harvested:awesome: btw they're absolutely awesome... Even better than the fast strain and I hate this because now I have to grow more:lol: they're definitely worth the wait.

You basically want them to be black enough to be able to give you an N-pass

Getting ready to transfer the semp to T-1, I see Asura is killing it with his Subtrops, nice work as usual, wow she is a slow roller, I do like how dark they can get though.  :wowz:

:raisemyglass:

I think you're a bit further than that actually perhaps a bit ahead of the 30/5/2026 picture:naughty: but that totally depends on when the pins came in so if the timeline is similar to mine you should be halfway there

Hello, this is a first post, which would've been better spent on an introduction, but I'm looking for some assistance. I've been lurking for about 1.5 years. Recently decided to try my hand at something other than cubes so I ordered up some subtrop spores, sent to agar, did some transfers, threw on some grain and waited... and waited.

Then I spawned into some shoeboxes using just coir. The shoeboxes were in oversized fahtster-style plastic bags. This was about 2.5 months ago. A month after spawning they appeared to have fully colonized so I cased in straight verm. Then waited... and waited.

I violated the LITFA policy about two weeks ago, fearing they weren't getting enough FAE, and transferred them into EZDial tubs. Right before that, one of them succumbed to the green death.

Pics:
One of three surviving tubs, in the bag, taken August 13.

Same tub today (inside an EZDial) September 16.

Other two tubs (today):

Two of them in the EZDial (if it helps?):

Looking for any advice on how I can get these things to fruit.

They are looking a little wispy to me. Do you have any pics of your grain jars? I mean you did make it 2.5 months with only 1 tub getting the green so I can't see it being too nasty.
I had one culture took 3 months to put out a super small flush of about 7 shrooms, then it popped a good flush every month for the next 7 months. Maybe you got the same one and have another 2-3 weeks to wait. Do you see any solid looking bumps, like a bigger knot anywhere on the surface? Is your surface drying to where you need to mist? Maybe more FAE?

Anyone try a beef punishment on semps before?

Sick to see you on the Semp life @ Asura!
:oogieboogie:

My Semp clone, 'Camel' (on 80coir 20HWFP) is putting up its fifth flush. I eschewed my traditional all verm pseudo case (have no verm) for a straight coir one, and after a good drink it's looking good.

The other semp tub I have- from spores this time, 'Ecco' (opposite ratio%, heavy wood 80hwfp 20coir or less) overlaid significantly while I ignored tubs for 2 weeks but yesterday I scraped it all off and I think it will pin any time.
Pics when there's something proper to see.

A few jars fruiting.

These tres sole have been a fun, frustrating and learning journey for me. Been mostly reading culture advise here, not much input from me as grasshopper.

I will say they teach you another level of patience if only familiar with cubes.

To any other noob semp growers:
As long as they don't smell funny I say let em keep going. I have lived and died ten times since project began haha

oh yeah dryish colonize and flood when fruit. Good recycled info.

Be well all. Happy growing happy be ing

I don’t have an exact measurement, but it should be between 65-70f.
