you can still get contam even if you have a clean agar/LC if your sterile technique is not on point during inoculation as far as i know. my question was if agar would be for some reason, more resistant to contam DURING INOCULATION, compared to a LC.


Agar won't be more resistent, but a lot easier to spot the contamination, less steps which should result in fewer contaminations. Agar is a big part of this hobby in my opinion, unless you are cultivating strictly for money I can't imagine cultivating mushrooms without agar.

Mold spores spread via the air. Bacteria spreads via physical contact. We do what we can to mitigate both vectors. SHIP’s require physical contact. It’s a vector. Yes we can sanitize a SHIP, use good technique to pierce the SHIP, etc. But those skills are specific to people successfully producing LC. Using LC to start LC is bad for a host of reasons. If LC to start LC didn’t have issues and wqs super easy, you think people here wouldn’t be championing it? No one here uses agar cause they want to make things hard for themselves. They use it because throwing projects in the trash 2-6 weeks later sucks. That’s hard.

Agar should be the more focused on skill first.

For me and my idea of what this forum is/should be used for, is to help make something that could be a big part of mental health out of the hands of big pharma/businesses when the skilled and abilities to make this are simple enough you would never need to run into a store for anything.

LC has way more issues and seems to be the easier route to introduce contams. Skipping agar to go straight to that seems foolish.

Fahts developed an entire invention just to make ships more reliable. 

Chiron at this point you have heard the same answer from some of the oldest and most experienced growers that I know. Just go ahead and make some lc or li if you're feeling confident. That's probably the best way to learn

Sometimes we just have to learn the hard way, all we can do is hope we learned something from the tough lesson and not repeat the problem over and over. Experimenting is fine when you have a grasp of certain concepts, or plenty of fruits and don't care for the sake of science, but yeah, lower expectations no doubt going off the rails and be prepared for failure.

Do you think keeping a mushroom in the fridge for 2 weeks will effect future grows if I clone it? I assume not, and the tissue is clearly still alive and viable, but I’ve never waited this long.

Damn. It’s the first time I’ve managed to get *Cordyceps* to fruit, and now I think I’ve got a contamination. At least, that white spot in the middle looks like one. What would you guys do? Scoop out the contamination? Try to take a clone? Or is it time for the dumpster?

Anyone:
I’m making some stoned gummies. I am making active tea. I made one batch with a little over 100g fresh stones, and another batch using a little over 200g fresh SNAPE. I have never consumed fresh and was wondering if anyone had any idea how many gummies I should make for each batch to either make them roughly equal 1-2g dried mushrooms per gummy. I know it’s not a science and there is debate on how much is extracted. I don’t care if they are exact, I just don’t want to end up with micro or hero dosed gummies haha.

Especially with a first grow it will feel like forever.

Depends on ratio. Depends on phenotype.

Looking anywhere from 14 to 30 days

I've only made the gummies once so far, but I used about 80 grams dry and made about 200 1ml gummies by halfing the recipe.

My assumption was around .3-4 grams per gummy. I ate 12 of them at a festival and while it should have been in the ballpark of 3-5 grams, I'd say it was pretty similar to 3g of PE tea in terms of duration and intensity

I have Ghost growing in a PF TEK jar.  Can I take a bit of the mycelium and transfer it to agar?  It is the last of the solution I have in the jar that is colonizing, but very, very slowly.

Previously, I did try to clean the MSS up with several agar transfers, and it looked good, put it in grain that colonized but stalled and crapped out in the tub.

I am desperate to get just one fruit that I can clone.
