Psilocybe cyanescens can fairly quickly dominate birch wood chips that's sold as pet bedding almost anywhere there's a pet store

Don't wash the woodchips xd u can pasteurize them fairly easily (haven't tryed pressure cooking a batch of woodchips yet)

that looks totally normal and healthy, and its what I and most others see from SNAPE. the cottony tonemtosde growth is characteristic in the popular lineages.
Additionally on another note, it is a nice looking culture, adn i would certainly use it.

Put some x7x+ spores to a plate a couple weeks ago. They germinated in a couple days which isn't surprising given their rep but still a little surprising. Done a few transfers, what do the experts think? It's pretty disorganized, but the growth speed is about what I expect from normal myc. Mold seems to be 3x or more faster. I did drop a plate in some grains a few days ago just to see.

I received a wild spore print of P. Cyan "Eungai B.I.G" from sporexchange.
2 swab plates both contaminated as expected but I wanted to try my hand at agar.

I made a bunch of PDA plates

I leave plates for around 5-10 days to make sure nothing funky landed on the plate during pour.
As I searched the forum I found water agar to be my next best step.
I made a few WA plates.

I transferred the contaminated plate to 3 separate WA plates, waited a week for the myc to grow half way from the inoc point and picked 1 WA plate for transfers.

It seems to be a Success!

36hrs after transfer to PDA and mycelium is noticeably thicker.

I took the transfer a little too close/soon, that's why I only made 2 transfers, as the other WA plates consolidate I will transfer.
I'm just doing a little fast but calculated project due to having more time on my hands.

This is my first written post, I've been lurking since 2020 but only made an account this year. I've done bags, shoeboxes and monos successfully but all with random multi spore cubes like JMF, GT and KSSS.
But I need to level up my game which means 1. mastering agar and 2. Learning how to use/communicate sources of information better.
Any tips for me or things you see that's not good practice?

First transfer from a wild ochra germ plate. GOOD LORD. I had two of these plates, actually tossed one in a jar of grains the 24th, already broke and shoke the 27th and am expecting to s2b Sunday. Wow.
