Guys, this thing (sent on May 30th) is pinning

And I don't think it's supposed to. Should I case it with vermiculite or is it too late?? Thanks in advance!

Current progress on ATL#7 x Tamp #2 jars (same three jars, different side)

Been slacking on the shaking for these, but they'll get their second one shortly.

I ended up casing with vermiculite. Despite having 3 holes on each long side and one on the top of each short ones , it seems them tamps like more FAE

The caps are supposed to get bigger, right? In any case, it looks I'm gonna be micrososing at this rate.

Is this mature enough to try and get a print?

Or it does grow larger (now it's barely 1 cm)? Thanks in advance

Tamps spawned on May 28.

ATL 7 from June 2nd is running quite a bit slower. Only stones so far.

You might be able to swab it in a day or two.

Tamps are (ime) by far the hardest species to print. You gotta get them dialed in perfect to have nice open caps with spores and then they’re usually so small they dry out during printing so it helps to add a drop of water on top of the cap.

My first ever fruits in a tray place in a mini-Mono back in 2021, took a bit of figuring out without the Martha.

Misted to close (Green Goblin), but Tamps IME enjoy extremely wet conditions.

Not quite big enough for a print, but I was proud of this sucker at the time.

Getting Better...

One of the first decent little hauls for a few small tubs and a tray.

Getting more normal looking

A few months later in the Martha, getting there and almost finished. Tamps and Mexi's absolutely love wetness and air is your friend for big caps.  These were suppose to be Pan syringes mislabeled and found out growing them they aren't Pans, anyway, roll with the punches and learned how to grow something different.  A blessing in disguise no doubt, but I was pissed at the time wanting to play with Pans.  Small caps, you won't get spores, but you could clone, or work on your air to water balancing act.  Enjoy, stones are great too, enjoyed them a few years back on the micro level.

Some of my ATL7 jars A2G on May 9th. Once they have sat 2-3 months I would like to try to S2B but I’m not even close to sure what tek to use. They look picky!!

First time growing stones. I actually forgot about this shoebox under another shoebox and saw all these little stringy shrooms. Kinda cool I guess but there’s a lot of moisture on some random groups. Is that normal or is it mycogone? Seems mostly clear water except there was one or two puddles of more brownish liquid. Also when do I harvest? Do I harvest the mushrooms or is that stone somewhere in the sub? How do you know when the stone is ready?

They aren't picky, I have ran stones for 4-6 months and still spawn for fruits.  If you are worried, put the seeds back in the jar, and give it a few days to make sure it recovers, but I went straight to manure/CV.  Get a piece of foil or something to harvest the stones and funnel back into the jar.  EAsy PEazy!

Sclerotia also do well in the fridge in a pill bottle for MONTHS!

Question. Do you use Black Kow? I have access to H poo but it’s not field aged. It’s pretty dry but maybe a few weeks out in the sun. I also have pans I’m almost ready to S2B and the sub would work for that too right?

Do you fruit the same as cubes with more fae And humidity? Are you in a mono or shoebox?

No experience with Black Kow, mainly horse manure, straw, with CV or a combo of all.  I get wheat straw here for gardening/mulch so I always have straw on hand, but I prefer manure/CV, quality control isn't as great these days and there are wheat seeds in the straw for sure.  Pop up in my outdoor veggie gardens more than they used to.  I did an all straw sub years ago with Avery A, First flush was really nice, second was definitely thinner and or wispy.

My tried and true and most of work is in shoeboxes (manure/cv for cubes), they are just too easy... 6 or 12 quarts, most of my older work are all in 12's.  Lately, I still do tubs, but bags are fun to play with too, whether it's a unicorn 3t or zip... doesn't matter just enjoy the process.

For Pans, if you have access to free manure that's aged (sometimes you have to dig for the older stuff) all good if your pasteurization skills are on point, if not, I'm interested in trying liquid nutes, and I have a ton of worm castings and or compost.

The biggest Pan fruit I ever grew was actually in a mono, check the poly back when I still had some left (pic from Sept 2021) and still used it.

I resurrected this Peace River above, no luck with tamps or Mexi yet, but I'll just hit up a few more plates, I have plenty of prints, but water agar run in my future since I only have 1 plate left from a 20 run (500ml).  All the best, excited to play with Pans (again) knowing what to expect, failure will happen with these, just part of the process.

No Bueno, the mean green trich machine!

Update on my first grow with stone producers, jars nocced on May 20th. Are they already trying to produce stones? We got hit with a heatwave this past weekend and it's had me a bit concerned about all my current grows.

Also took a look at my T0 and T1 plates for the kicks. Holy moly, these things really want to fruit!

Got the atl#7 giveaway wedge.

Been experimenting with agar with little success. The giveaway wedge gave me a nice plate. Tried to transfer it to multiple plates, had an issue with my agar not hardening (I have these stupid reusable glass plates that are a mess to work with and tried wrapping them in foil and something happened.)

Out of the 8 plates I got from the 1 plate only one is looking great. However, there is some contam it will grow into soon.

Would it be efficient to open the plate and attempt to cut the contam out, and than let it grow? Or would this lead to more contam?

Also, most important question. Can I g2g if I’m trying to just get sclerotia? If so, can I start with wbs and g2g to rye berries? Don’t have any rye atm but I’d like to do these on them, but I do have wbs.

Thanks.

That plate has plenty of clean growth you could transfer away to buy time to find rye, if you can prep other plates soon. It sounds like the glass plates aren't working out for you, but you could probably find cheap pp5 plastic food storage containers for pre-pour agar. I used these 4oz twist-top containers until I started using vabiooth reusable pp5 plates. Boil agar on the stove, pour into the containers, cool until set, then PC with the lids loosened halfway so they don't warp. Open the PC and close the lids after it all has cooled. I've usually had some condensation, but I store the containers upside down so it pools on the lid, then open and dump most of the condensation in my SAB before use. (Lately I've been using those containers to make ~1 oz grain cakes, then fruiting them in a shoebox water tub to make prints.)

I don't know if you can g2g in that situation, but it seems riskier than expanding a little longer on agar until you have rye. I use organic rye berries from a health food store. I've only gone through a few pounds total, so it doesn't make sense to pay slightly less per pound for an enormous feed store bag.
