I use autoclavable petris too (Vabiooth brand on amazon), and I sterilize them in a pp5 plastic yogurt container alongside the agar jar. They're working great for me, like a dozen reuse cycles and counting.

Another happy Vabiooth user here. And many more can be found here: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28744852/fpart/1/vc/1 so highly recommended! Personally I sterilise them in these: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/eklatant-jar-with-lid-clear-glass-bamboo-30419058 (17 per jar).

Oh and that was my next concern and you handled that one!!

Is that 90mm it handles??

Sorry couple questions.

Just making sure, but tinfoil on top right?

And do you put the Petri in upset down so you can just flip it over?

Pretty yeti culture, love the growth, have too many things going on so it will be tossed or set aside to attempt a plin maybe. If anyone wants a piece shoot me a pm

Another extra Yeti plate I was trying out a new agar transfer tool generously gifted to me from another shroomerite c:

And a KSATT + Nutcracker culture I've been cleaning up for weeks. I think this may be the plate I preserve and send to grain. I'll decide this weekend, may make another transfer.

And here's a melmac I've been working on too. Definitely ready!

Yes, both correct, tinfoil on top, and I put the bottoms of the Petries to the open side of the jar indeed.

That looks awesome, what is your agar recipe?

I've been fucking around with different mixes, that one is super translucent so it's my the premixed PDA, only thing I can find on Amazon jp. The ingredients are as follows:

Once I get to the states at the end of the year I'll probably switch it up to whatever I can get locally there, but this stuff is great! It's probably super overpriced but whatever I love it. It's like 90$ for enough powder to make 15 liters of agar.

Every time I make some LME agar it's a little cloudy. Not the end of the world of course but damn I love those clear plates c:

Yes sir, it surely is c;

And don't worry, it's being ran for sure!

I dropped some wedges to fahtlocks from earlier transfers but they have all contaminated unfortunately and are in the compost.

I used the culture to make my very first LC and nocc'd up a couple quarts jars and a couple of PF cakes.

They are looking good:

The one on the left is almost recovered from the 100% colonized break and shake, the one on the right isn't recovering as well, may toss it.

A few of the cultures I'm working atm. The small plate is p caeruleorhiza, it has some beautiful blue coloring. Once I transferred from this plate the growth is far less rhizomorphic.

I think pretty much all of my cultures perform better on PDA than LME.

Some have been about equal but none have done better on lme than PDA. I think once I finish off my current supply (prolly like a year, ugh) I'm not going to be using LME anymore, unless I feel like experimenting with it to dial in a recipe.

About 6 months ago I left no pours and started with legit petri dishes.  I love them.  I spent years trying every other method.

What I don't love is the amount of plastic waste it generates.

What does everyone do with used plates?

I’m with you here - 100%!!!
A solid trip (especially one outside in nature) reminds me of how I’m one with all parts of the eco system and I’m thinking of the massive trail of plastic waste my mushroom hobby creates.

So what to do? I’ve tried glass Petri dishes and yes they are reusable, but they are very expensive and stack poorly!
However, I recently found a plastic Petri dish that can be reused and re-sterilized, and they are very clear! My old plastic reusable ones tended to be pretty hard to see through!

These new ones are a lot cheaper than glass, stack well, and have great transparency.they are a bit more expensive than disposable plastic Petri dishes, but much much cheaper than glass.  I’m not going to post the name or source - you can PM me if you are interested.

Do you send or another transfer? I guess for last one another transfer? Which sectors would you pick?

I would send 9-10 o clock on the top plate in 4 jars and see which one does the best and g2g that seems like the best rhizo out of all the other examples

Always recommended to at least transfer once especially from spores. Far as I know at least as I’m barely starting my agar journey

You would cut 9-10 in 4 and put in jar? A little piece in a grain jar then?
