New to agar, just started in July. Here is the first plate I've gotten looking pretty good I think, this is after one transfer. Need to prep oats.

Thanks a lot! Here are some more plates I hit with a spore syringe, seem to be no contamination on these but plan to transfer anyway. I'm learning so much lol there's almost TOO much info on this site!

hell yea gotta love a clean syringe. still a smart move to transfer at least once to a handful of plates. u never know what could be lurking in there. u planning on going straight to grain or lc?

I know plus transfers are fun, very satisfying to clean it up successfully and do it smoothly. I haven’t delved into LC yet, still learning so much just about agar and mycology in general… so many teks lol. So many options. I’ll drop the clean agar culture into grains for now… also looking into making grain liquid inoculate syringes as well. I failed miserably yesterday prepping/PCing oats… ended up with mush lol. May go back to WBS with Franks tek.

right on! yes alot to sort thru around here but youre on the path of success. a lot of trial, error, and just finding what works for you.

dnt wanna derail an agar thread but, when it come to grain, i prefer millet. a 24 hour soak, 20min strain, then loaded right into jars/bags. p9 has a video detailing here somewhere. changed the game for me. i was a rye guy for many years

Yep lots of trial and error… different things work at varying levels of success for different people, with some more obvious tried and true methods. Overall it’s not terribly difficult to grow a shitload of em. I will have to try just millet. I’ve been using Frank’s WBS prep for years with good results but wanna experiment.

Like id rather go look for mushrooms and nap on a moss bed than even think about taking notes like that. I struggle to label plates all the way consistently:lmafo:
