I torch my foil.  That way I don’t need to go through pre sterilizing it.  Not that’s it’s a bad idea or anything but it’s pretty fast

Well. I've had plates with condensation sitting in front of my hood for two days, and then unwrapped in a drawer for a week. It doesn't reabsorb for me. *shrug*

Bottom plate had  loads of excess moisture after pc but I used it anyway.

Now the mycelium has sloshed around and started appearing all over the plate.

Some of the condensation has definitely dried up but after 2 weeks it's clearly still there.

it does just evaporate out or get consumed.  especially if the plates are stored vertical.

I do prepour HG cups so I get a fair amount of condensation.

I'll usually store my unused PC'd plates upside down, and then bang them against a desk vertically before putting it into my SAB.

Before innoculating, I'll just open it upside down and angled a bit inside my SAB so anything excess drips out. This gets rid of any pooling. I still deal with the occasional lid that has some condensation, but HG cups aren't the best for pretty pics anyways so I just ignore it.

When stacking your plates after a pour, keep in mind that nasties are falling from above all the time, especially if you are in the kitchen.  I move my stacks into the lab next to the SAB and cover with clingwrap until use.

When pouring, only tip the lid up far enough to pour, then close.

When culturing only tip the lid up far enough to work then close, even in the SAB.  I do this -and- culture my plates as vertical as I can,  and then close with my thumb. Have had virtually no contam since these (and other) practices, with six species.

I am always surprised to see those mixing 1.5%, 2%, and more MEA.  I guess my one post on this has had no effect.  You want lower nutes for contam to eat, and you want the myc to be reaching out for nutes so you can ID strong fuzzy myc.

At first I had horrible mold problems with my MiB species.  I found that mold often puts out long strands reaching out and over as much as 25mm before landing again on agar.  See that, you have mold.  Do a transfer the far side from it immediately and cabin.

I know, I know, and nasties do not fall from above, open the plates fully to pour and culture, use more MEA rather than less, etc, etc.

Oh no Beef, he's going to put you on ignore now.

I'd love to see his new work considering he's had so much success recently.... as in like a week ago
He was growing nothing but mold but i'm sure he's got incredible looking plates now because he's been so open to our advice.

sounds counter productive but have u tried pouring them kinda hot? i usually pour mine to where its almost not bearable to hold the bottle. then i leave them stacked and unwrapped in front of the hood. i usually have an inch or two left in the media bottle and put it on top the stack. seems to clear up completely for me. maybe i light condo on a couple plates
