they look like they are trying to jump off though. i would probably make some more plates without the red and take some transfers from these. make your next batch light on nutrition (or even water agar) and the myc will stretch out faster looking for food.

good luck mate!!

Yusky Mycelium, creates these weird coccoons, not sure what. Tried fruting some but I think I mislabelled a Ochra plate. Got new jars coming that are verified plins from some of my first plates, Yeti x Husky.

Did some straw water agar, but that has been a fail tbh. I hate the growth compared to my regular food ones. Shouldn't be surprising, if grain runoff water is filled with biocides, straw must have even more.

Sucks that I might have to just throw them out and do more, but its not the end of the world.

Sounds like a plan!

I was debating cause I had THOUGHT they were contaminated and took transfers to see and left them alone. The transfers aren’t bad but these guys seem like they want to work

I got a NZ-02 swab many months ago and got one germ plate out of ten that was useable. All the rest were bacterial as fuck. I made about 5 rounds of transfers, used antibiotic agar for two of them and did a cabin sequestration on one. I thought I had finally gotten a few clean cultures but now I see that there is some yellowing happening in some of them. It doesn’t look like any contam I’ve ever seen and the myc appears to be growing normally, to my eye at least, so I’m wondering if the yellow color could just be a genetic thing and not a contam. Here’s a couple pics, one with the yellow color and one without.

They may not have been responding to your specific post but just posting an agar they like/are proud of. This thread does tend to have a lot of agar porn. You could repost your question to the quick question quick answers thread and someone will likely help you pretty quick.

My first time pouring agar! That was really cool and fun. Makes me want to pour a bunch of them. Is it ok that I Saran wrapped 10 each and then store them in ziplock bags once they’ve fully cooled? And then just keep it in a cool dark place right?

As long as they're clean you can store them anywhere I'd imagine. Mine are stacked on my workbench in my obscenely hot garage

NZ-02 is a newly discovered species from New Zealand, in sect. Zapotecorum. It’s so new in fact that it doesn’t even have a Latin name yet.
GCMS testing has shown it to be extremely potent, on par with azurescens.
It appears to be easily cultivated indoors under similar conditions to cubes.
It is also being called JIYP, due its apparent ability to cause spontaneous orgasm in higher doses. JIYP- Jizz in your pants 😂
I’m not making this up.
Some day when I finally get a good culture and a decent fruiting strain I’ll have swabs available for your orgasmic enjoyment.

You can wrap stacks of dishes if you plan on using them all at the same time or if you’re very careful not to open them when you unwrap them but I wrap mine individually.
If you use a sharp knife you can cut a roll of plastic wrap into 2 inch sections for wrapping individual plates
