No way will I yell, I'm only using shoeboxes and trays in mono's too:lol:.....are you keep the boxes in another container or just flipping the lid?

Yeah, I get what I think of as ego braiding on Ayahuasca.  Trains of thought have less sense of being explicitly mine.  A lot of time dilation too.  Very severe at some points, like past life experiences.

I haven't taken it sense COVID.  Root bark is a hassle.  But I think bispo would make a good pairing with thh and its sisters.  Likely someday I'll try it.

I remember seeing some pan grain jars of yours a few weeks ago, they looked good.  What are you using for sub, how are you treating it?

So to be fair I have had a few tubs get cased. Then they colonize the casing and either trich out or do nothing at all. Those get the lid flipped. I’ve considered dub tubbing.

My sub is liquid fert amended coir. I’m using Mojave’s old recipe, so I know it’s functional. He has since moved to a better liquid fert. I have also used manure water coir. That did get me a single bispo pin back in the day 👍

Mostly the spawn that makes it to bulk takes off light a lightning bolt and then stops at 75%. Not even that much of it contams. It just stops.

I think I haven’t figured out how to read the myc yet. It will not give up its secrets to me!

I'm not familiar with adding liquid fertilizers for mush cult.  Does the amended coir need pasteurizing ? 

I get meh results only flipping the lid on shoeboxes.  I'd rather put them in a mono or a garbage bag.

It doesn’t need pasteurization, which is nice. You add the LF to your boil water and then do standard bucket tek coir.

Do you think putting a 6Q shoebox into a dub tubbed 12Q would be ok? This was my very first thought months back. And for a trash bag would I just put the whole tub into a bag and let it rip?

Im trying my best to take my individual skills out of the equation as much as possible. This is my plan so far:

TF's AIO jars with manure and liquid ferts sterilized for 4 hours.

Unpasteurized jiffy mix as a casing.

I'm hoping to get everything I need for a JCM, but if not the trash bag idea seems intriguing as a temporary measure until I get all the parts.

I have what I feel are really nice T1 RDU cultures I'm working with, and putting some TTBVI to agar tomorrow.

I don't use the dub.  I like the bag and poke holes in gradually after casing. This isn't a preferable method for me, but it works when I'm out of space or mono's.  Are 12 qt's the largest you have?

I hate to tell anyone they need to buy more things.  I rather the mono though...

Still I don't think your FC is your issue either. I agree with how you feel getting familiar with myc.  Keep at it, really though.

I also don’t think it’s the fruiting chamber. I was just thinking about cakes again today at work. I’m going to make some AIO style sawdust cakes for my gyms and do them in a tiny water tub. For fun.

I will keep plugging away at it. Gotta find something good eventually 💪

Your path is my plan as well. I figure if I can take myself out of the equation until casing and fruiting then I’ve got half the battle won.

Aside from that, my best runs have generally been on sterilized substrates (aio jars or bags for example).




I used to do both depending on season but ultimately ended up doing more pc runs due to the solid reliability/consistency. As long as you're confident that your spawn grain is flawless/axenic, sterilized substrates will work like a charm :nyan:

On the other hand, a perfectly colonized block of pan mycelium can last a couple of months easily, not even molding out when dumped outside :heart::heart:

Sometimes, depending on the weather and environment, a couple of mother plates can come in handy... Give them a week before you get the first transfer and from there you'll know. Anything that looks healthy and moving VERY fast. Keep in mind some pan varieties like TTBVI can fluff up like cloud, nothing wrong with it. Get 3 or 4 transfers from the same mother plate. Fast and vigorous is what you want. :heart::heart:

How's your agar recipe btw? 0.5% work wonders for mycelium readers :mushroom2:
