I've always been into fishing and spearfishing.
One day, while browsing a bookstore, one book grabbed my attention: "catching the big fish" by David Lynch; turns out it was a book about meditation, consciousness and creativity. He got me into exploring the nature of mind and meditation. Thank you again, David

I was going to say hey, me too, was counting the posts till I could rate him.

Did the check. Apparently I first rated you, then Stipe, then Piggy. I liked the HHG and loved the steam sterilization writeup.

I won't be writing a tek any time soon but.. secretly I'm just going to be doing it in a similar fashion to Bill Murray in the movie Rushmore during that scene when he's drunk as fuck at his kids birthday party throwing golf balls in the swimming pool.

How big of a trich spot did you flame? I got a tub that's showing pins but I just found some trich 2 days ago. I'm planning to let it run until the flush is done, but I could try torching it because I don't really have anything to lose.

I have one of those stand up dab/crembrulee butane torches. The flame might be too big/hot though

Clean spawn is definitely the goal. I keep having agar plates that are tomentose. Some go well, but others go green. I'm still not 100% skilled at spotting hidden contams. Rhizo still eludes me.

With this one tub, I'm letting it finish its single flush either way since I had pins show before the trich. I just don't really see a downside to trying to torch it.

Let those plates sit around until they kick out pins, then transfer the pins to new plates.

Been a game-changer for me at least.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have one that I have done that with. It's showing some mycelium growth right now. Just going to let it grow a day or two now before I transfer it.

I was intrigued with what you did and will be doing the same thing tonight. Found a small bit of trich on the side of a tub. Quarter sized. After I harvest I’m going to torch it and see where it goes.

Ok, ok, I understand this whole "torch the trich and get a little more mileage out of a jacked-up tub" business. But what about taking a colonized plate and torching the surface? I bet a lot of the crap that hitch-hikes on our cultures and ends up infecting them is concentrated there, both because it's exposed and because there's fresh air and condensation present. Plus, you never know, you could end up with Uber-myc that's been tempered in the fire.
