I like 630 on the second and the first plate, nothing really interests me so pick a spot.
Those should clean up very easily away from those spots. Don't think too hard about it. That's what the agar is for

Don't wait tho, might be a bit harder to get a clean transfer when those mold spots start cumming in there

The creepy, veiny looking stuff grew out in the first 36 hours, I know it is contamination. I don't know what kind of contam it is, but I would like to find out so I can figure out if it was something with my sterile technique, or if it's environmental, or something else.

That's from Lew's giveaway right (with the Chia)? I haven't heard of any contam. (The only contam I've heard from my giveaway was someone who was complaining about having contam in another grow before they got mine).

What did you do differnt between those two plates? The big plin one looks really good, as for the other one, I've never seen slime mold here but it looks cool. But...slimy and very contaminated.

Here's a question: how was your T2? I've never had contam on T3, can always transfer away from contam by then, and usually by T2.

Another possibility is your plates weren't clean after pouring and before nocking (inoculation).

I usually pour plates, stack then in the tube they came in (taped in stacks of 10), seal it up and let it sit 7 to 10 days.

These days I get about one contam in 80 plates, but I used to get about 10 to 15 contam in 80 plates my first year. Letting the plates sit is a good test to toss ones that have contam before transferring to them.

I flame about every new donor plate, or every 4 transfers from a donor plate, whichever is less.

As for Slime molds, they have a certain "intelligence", in that they can solve mazes:

Pic tax, a bunch of freshly poured plates cooling so I can tape them up in stacks of 10, put in the tubular bags they came in, and let sit for a week at least before using.
