I remember George Bush.

He was a conservative politician himself, and he didn't sell baseball hats and designer sneakers about it.

He didn't have companies based around his politics loudly meshing together corporate consumerism and electoral politics.

In fact I don't think anyone's done that. Not even close to this scale.

What are the implications?

At what point does this marriage of government/consumerism/religion become a conflict of interest?

At what point does it brush into any legitimate checks and balances?

He then said that China would pay for them.

He has no idea how tariffs work or what they would do to our economy.

I think he knows exactly how tarrifs works, he's trying to trick his voters, he knows this stuff isn't produced in the U.S. and people will be forced to pay the tarrifs, means brings in money for him to spend, without him saying he has to raise taxes

I understand that tariffs are supposed to be protectionist but without a working alternative, in the short term.
