Dems Finally Sobering Up. Establishment 2020 frontrunner Kamala Harris endorses single payer * 2

Just announced in Oakland a few hours ago and then confirmed to multiple people as well as on twitter that she plans to cosponsor Bernie's medicare for all bill that gets introduced next week.


So, fucking finally, the Dems realize theyre gonna need a more inspiring agenda than "america is already great" and robot clinton to win an election, even in the face of Trump's shittiness.  Their fundraising numbers for the midterms have been absolute dogshit, and they really have no good message to attract voters. They need to bend the knee to the left and this is a good first step.

Its better than nothing.
I just hope its serious and not a token gesture.  If the Dems don't put up a convincing fight, they won't get my vote

Shes definitely running after a move like this. And say what you want about Harris, but shes got her finger on the pulse of the establishment. This is the beginning of a transition towards a full Democratic embrace of single payer.

The only 3 series Dem contenders for 2020 (Sanders, Warren, Harris) all support single payer. Nobody prominent will come out against it now. Only way the Dems backtrack from this path now is if they get bludgeoned by Trump in 2020. But that seems unlikely. I think the Dems finally realized theyre gonna need a legitimate vision for the future to win an election and not just "look how bad the gop is."[David Attenborough]Spectacular.[/David Attenborough]

I would take Liz over Kamala, but not over Bernie. Liz is tough on the banks and is on board with single payer, but still pretty moderate elsewhere.

The premise of this thread is that the Democratic party sucks, pushing Biden is an embodiment of that, theyre pivot towards single payer is a win for the left and the future of the party.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of RI now also planning to cosponsor.


This is great. The Dems are gonna be forced to vote on single payer before the midterms. They get to decide to embrace the future or risk getting primaried by an increasingly impatient left.
