i employ 15 people.  i know it's not a lot, but we've been successful for 25 years and counting.

i'm in a slowly transforming rural market--not a touristy, techy area--with eight other service companies within a 15 mile radius that employ about 8 to 35 people each (and about 25 other direct competitors in a 25 mi radius).  having disclosed that, your last paragraph is completely invalidated.  that whole para is inapplicable.

Jesus christ, no wonder you can afford it. boy, and you run a business...but can't see how you can afford in comparison to, say, running your business in the "big city"?

Quote:
you got all that from me saying my tax and healthcare burden would be about 29% less in the UK.

leaps of epic proportions.

i have a tendency to trust my gut.

it's funny you think you got a gotcha by trusting your gut.  you couldn't be more wrong.

you have proven that you have zero clue how to run a successful business in a highly competitive market with a limited volume of customers "in comparison to, say, running [a] your business in the "big city"".

it's much easier to stage my business in the suburbs and market my services to the "big city" because there are more people in the "big city" (notice how it doesn't make the post any better the more times one incorrectly uses quotation marks like you did?) and they're willing to pay much more money for the services i provide.

like i said before, you know not of what you speak.  you should stick to those topics.

ETA:  oh, and all of those competitors i mentioned?  they, too, aren't in the big city.  they're all out here grinding for the same customers i am.  thus, a highly competitive market.

yeah, and they also think you're a gyp for it. but they'll settle for gyp, cause they are used to worse.

you just confirmed what i said. it's easier to find clientele for your small business in the big city. how the fuck was i wrong? :flowstone: you just agreed with me.

^

clarification. it's a beautiful thing.

see i wasn't talking about you at first; you had to play interlocutor first in order for that to occur. before i was talking about business owners in more rural areas...you shifted the conversation into your domain, which is the "big city".

that's the comparison i was talking about. the rural compared to the "big city". but you made it all about you, and simply missed that.

the point is that left-leaning cities are the suffering from the fallout of their draining of economies. good. it's still not nearly much, though. but the fallout is enough, in and of itself. because it's all stemming from these infections, erm, cities.

based on what?
by virtually every metric, left-leaning states and cities are pummeling right-leaning states and cities economically.

And the hillbillies are suckling at the Big Government teat, so I guess it's all just one big, happy, family.
They want cradle to grave entitlements for their entire states.  They want the deep state to redistribute wealth at the barrel of a gun from responsible, productive states like Ca and NY, to prop up states that consistently make poor decisions.

wrong.  people love paying for good service coupled with good products.  successful businesses also love paying for good service.  both keep coming back time and again, happily.  please stop trying to argue my business with me.  you have a larger vocabulary than i do but you don't know my business or how to generically run a business in this area.  i don't really expect you to, but i expect a smart guy like you to know when he's out of his league.  if you don't know when to say when now, you probably will one day as it took me a few years, too.

Quote:

this is the part where you tell me you actually wrote something entirely different than exactly what you wrote, in fact you already did, but anyway...

you wrote:

blah, blah, blah running your business in the big city.  if i ran the big city--marketed in, did a lot of work in, based my company in, etc--i'd be able to afford more of everything, not less of anything.

you wrote that i can afford more of [whatever] because of where i am compared to running my company in the city.  that.  is.  wrong.  there is much more money to be made in the city and leases aren't that much different.  the difference is skewed much farther in the direction of additional profit.

there is even more profit than that to be made if i'd base in the disgusting suburbs and run the dirty, smelly city, but that's not us, either.  i p much hate the city.

i'm nowhere near the city and we don't market or run the city because of the aforementioned and because we're in one of the worst traffic locations in north america.  from where i'm located now, if i paid my men to sit in traffic half the day, we'd be screwed.  if i based my company in or closer to the city, well, then i'd be in a really shitty place most of the day and i'd hate that.

again, you're simply out of your league in this discussion.  be smarter and know your limitations and you won't end up here in this type of conversation.

you're clearly not seeing what i'm saying. i'm saying you rely on the "big city" for the majority of your business. no one is talking about you and your business, peple are, however, talking about your politics- your silly whims of "well, we're just making the most profits/wages, everybody else who is having problems can go on welfare, LOL" bullshit, when people are trying to FIX THINGS, you people, yes YOU PEOPLE keep shitting it up, and you people keep roving about like you own the place, and like your shit doesn't stink, when no one wants to live in your stinking socialist cities or blue states, anyway, not without already being a: outside of the city where you can simply leech off the city you disdain, or b: work in some highly educated field of work- good luck starting a business in shitsville, but YOU, yes, people like YOU can just leech off the wealth of your socialist crackerjack factory, complain of the smell, watch it grow and fester, and all while every jackanapes out there gets screwed from top to bottom in taxes, wages, and have to settle for either moving to the stinky places you seem to LOVE, and watch their states go down the tubes, all to feed those nasty sewage dumps of swamp gas faggot farts of diarrhea sent by way of pretentious dunderheaded doormats and their need to plague society with their wastrel condemnation of "the man" whilst lavishing in filthy riches!
