B+, this was originally purchased LC, then I cloned fruits that clustered, then took spores from the cloned fruits, then took a clone from a large fruit in a cluster, then spores from that, sent to a 3qt bag of WBS, sent to a really thick monotub with about 2" pseudocasing (looking to maximize water availability).  Sadly not pictured is a corner in the back with no growth - probably trich which has been plaguing my grows, but I'll get spores from some of these early big clusters and keep it moving :cool:



Seven varieties, (eight counting the jars to the right), each with eight thin pfpucks.  These are a mix of spores, plins, transfers from spore plates.  Whatever looks decent will be transferred to a thicker pfpuck, and whatever grows well on the thicker pucks will get sent to a small 4T unicorn grow bag of grain, and whatever does well on grain will be sent to a fahtloc minitub, and whatever does well there will be cloned/spore swabbed/printed and on to another round.

Haha. We all come a long way for sure. I never purchased one of the inflatables or cheap glove boxes, but I did spend unnecessary money on humidifiers and ducts and fans and incubation pads. Bah! Now I'm as cheap as can be. None of my tubs are modded, they're all 9.99 or less plastic totes or shoeboxes.

This is my first GT PF cake that looks promising! My previous cakes had small amounts of pins but this cluster is making me hopeful.

The biggest surprise for me was how quickly they go from pins to full height. I've had to take half out already as the veils broke last night. Reckon it'll be a few more hours before the rest need to be removed and into flush #2

And subtropicalis HVC ran 1:1 on sterilized coir, with MGP+ in a monotub. Sprayed very generously with water once a day until it was pooling on the substrate.

First signs of growth unfortunately it's creamy and spiky from what i can see. Not a great first day of visable growth. It was noced maybe 5 or 6 days ago and it's a 5lb bag

I had a very successful grow with this same brand and it was pretty moist too but this one seems way too moist :facepalm: I'll just need to see what happens i guess. I was thinking I should poke a hole in it or something so combat the excess moisture but it's so early I should probably let it ride.

Excessive water might slow colonization down a tad but it won’t ruin the grow if the bag is sterile.  Remember, we grow myc in straight water all the time (lc). Extra water doesn’t just create bacteria… it has to be present

Ohh shitt so might not be a failure afterall thank you :smile: i thought the spiky hyphae branching out was unhealthy rhizo growth like my last one that ended up successful but i thought it was happening to early for me to do anything about it.

The contam guide is pretty much does it kind of look like this it might be this. And I'm not expierenced enough to decipher it apparently.

I don't know why I thought it looked creamy to me. Probably because I didn't understand the concept of having rounded edges like it can't escape the bacteria. Knowing that it definitely isn't creamy.

Thats a really good point about LCs and another thing I very much misunderstood I thought you used some other kind of liquid other then water to make LCs. I hadn't really read the guide that much cuz I'm not there yet.
