it seems like they are likely trying to get him to step down right now. the pressure will continue until august when they can nominate someone.


That is probably their mistake and might be the most risky thing they could be doing.

They tried ignoring it for his entire first term and they’ve calculated that this is no longer the most feasible course of action.

Calculating will not change it is biden or trump.  Biden has a better staff and will make better decisions then trump.  Maybe their fear will make them work harder when they realize this.

Maybe they will go back to the debate and actually listen to what trump said to get some perspective back.

And right now, poll numbers suggest people have decided they prefer Trump.

If American voters made cold, calculated voting decisions based on which candidate would be best for their lives, the Democrats would have maintained power since WW2.

Last election was with in the margin of error, it will probably be close but biden beat trump once and trump has no out reach to change that.  Anything is possible but the polls have been over estimating for republicans lately. Probably be a nail biter with real serious consequences.

Yeah, it sucks, but worth pointing out that democrats KNOW THIS.

It’s like liberals say “Hillary won the popular vote!” when talking about 2016. Like damn, too bad her party never heard of the electoral college until it was too late.

Just a never ending “well how were we supposed to know?!” from some of the most powerful and informed people in human history. And people eat that shit up because it lets them play the victim.

The reason Biden is a good president and leader is because he actually respects his advisors and takes their opinions seriously.  You can't be an expert on everything, that's why you hire expert advisors.

At this point it’s going to be Kamala if it isn’t Biden. But it’s gonna be Biden, because that’s the dumbest possible outcome.


Democratic party is fully committed to dumbest possible outcome. Harris has lower favorability than Biden, but since she's not 80 call it a tie.

Wondering if it's unrealistic to keep assuming they'll have a much better candidate in 2028? Not seeing negatives so far on Whitmer, but maybe she's too white of a woman. Newsome can't get the media to like him anymore and Pritzker is a Jewish billionaire. Plus, California and Illinois are blue no matter what. How Michigan votes in November could affect two elections.

Returning to dumbest possible outcome theme, they could nominate who's next in line. If that happens, I'm old enough to just never vote again.

Younger kids couldn't buy houses back when the interest rates were 2% either .  The value  of my house was 100k higher back then , when Trump was in office . We just aren't building enough, it's that simple .

you can say democrats fucked the economy if you want, but it takes a lot of burrying your head in the sand not to see that the economy was fucked because of something trump and trump alone did.

which was to lower interest rates in an irresponsible  way.

this allowed red fin...zillow...blackrock...etc to buy up tons and tons of houses... from people... which inflated the prices of houses... and made many people go from owners to renters. when the price of rent goes up... wages have to adjust... if they dont we get more homeless (which we did)... when wages go up prices go up and its never ever even with the wages... and thats inflation in a nut shell.

bidens economic team has atleast slowed it down some, but it took some really drastic measures. and we are only now getting to some form of normality...

if trump is re-elected this will happen again but this time the damage will be worse.

its also really disturbing  that trump doesnt see tarrifs being past on to consumers... over and over he has stated that the consumers pay the same but that countries pay more.

its very simple to see thats not true. if a widget were to cost 1 dollar to make... and sells for 2 dollars... and a terrif of 3 dollars is put on the widget... then the widget will now cost 6 dollars to the us citizen it doesnt become a 1 dollar loss to the country that makes it.

i wonder if trump really doesnt understand that like he is pretending to... or if he just thinks his followers are too dumb to understand that.

the only time terrifs work is when us companies make a widget and it costs then 2 dollars... and china makes the same widget and because of low wages it only costs them 1 dollar to make that widget... if you put a 1 dollar terrif on it then the chinese widgets now have to be priced the same as the US widget...  thats where terrifs are useful.

My son in law just bought 119 acres and it has a house on it.  He is forty but has owned before.  I bought my first house in early eighties when interest rates were 12 percent.  In fact during the eighties I bought 13 houses (rental one at a time) and paid twelve percent interest.  When I bought the one I am in now interest rate was around 7 percent in 94.  It is not interest that makes the only difference in buying a house though I like low when buying.  The truth is you work until you are in a position to buy and then you buy whatever the times are.  By the way, I am just a lowly auto worker with a union wage which the republicans wanted to destroy and did put a pretty good dent in with right to work.

Easy to buy homes in the 80s when

1) their prices compared to median income were drastically lower

2) you have tenants paying the mortgage for you

It wasn't that easy and renters didn't pay for the one I was living in and I moved more then normal and did more remodel then normal where I was living.  I had the cheapest car you could buy and my wife had to get up and take me to my ride every morning. You had to save up for a down payment.  My wage was an upgrade to 9 bucks an hour from 3.50 an hour.  Just tell me why it was so much easier then?  They guys I was renting to didn't find it easier though some of them saved and moved to something they had worked for.  It has never been easy.  The difference now from rich and poor might make some difference but it is being done every day right now by some.  The republicans trying to destroy unions might have made it harder but it is being done by some every day now.  I will give you that income compare to house is bad and low down payment maybe good but why and that is not interest rates on loans so much maybe?

I bought my first house in 1980 when Carter was president
Interest rates were 14%
The house cost $40,000 and 6 months later the bottom fell out and my house was only worth $24,000

I worked for the OCAW union at the time
Got laid off 3 different times during the democratic reign
Reagan was elected and no more layoffs

Everytime a democrat is in office life gets harder and inflation rises :beatingtodeath:

I had the most money in the clinton years. Perhaps some of your problems with carter had to do with the 8 percent inflation rate that ford lost the election with?  Just like obama had to fix bush economy and it took a few years for it to take.  Trump was screwing it up again and biden has made a dent in the right direction.
