Protip pull pieces of the swab off with forceps or similar if you want to preserve the specimen. I think a few people make spore suspensions from swabs.

The tidal wave plates have a kind of puffy appearance. If viewed from the side you can see very fine strands of myc pointing up, very much like how the hair on your arm does when getting chills. Is that ok?

I have a mini pf cake I made from a 1/4 pint jelly jar and I want to put it to agar. Any tips, I'm concerned about smacking it out in the stab... should I just dump the verm off and cut off the top? Thanks, I'm hoping to do that tonight with some other transfers and go to grain with a few plates that look ready. Will post pics.

Do you have a link to some good threads about cloning technique or cloning pins, and maybe some personal tips because I botched the last clones I tried to take and also the 1/4 pints don't usually fruit well. It probably would give me a couple tiny fruits. It's also tidal wave so I'm not sure if it'll act more like penis envy or b+ so it might not like pf too much.🤷 I knew I wanted to do agar but as a noob I accidentally went with syringes so I went to PF instead of grain because the grain I did wasn't clean and so I transfered that to agar and am going to go back to grain, but I did some pf jars to circumvent that problem, but then didn't know how to proceed from there lol. For some reason the pins I did looked good when I put them on the holy Grail no pours but when I transfered them to Petrie dishes they looked like mold. The grain to holy Grail no pours took well on the Petrie dishes, but they looked better on the no pours🤷 I think I'm going to transfer those back to no pours since they looked better and I'll go from there with those. Any advice appreciated thanks.

This is my weirdest plate yet. Not sure what to think other than maybe there's some bacteria in there? It was evenly circular growth the whole time. Transfer was taken from a rhizo area of otherwise tomentose natalensis myc. Maybe a case of nat gonna nat?

Has the spot it has been stored in have a lot of fluctuation in temp?

Nope. Stored in the same spot as everything else, the rest are all clouds. Temp swing is 2 deg when sunny. Other plates have had temp rings but those followed the growth shape. This one has been going tie dye independent of the growth

I'm going to take a few transfers and send a piece to grain to see if anything presents some definite ick. Just right now super confused with it.

This is one of my ADHD-powered plin plates– neglect something long enough and it just might fruit



These two are about to be 2nd generation plin donors if I don't pour more plates soon
