It's a sad situation that goes on in our country when the initial floor for a position becomes the ceiling.

i think trump is the kind of low life scumbag that no one really likes although some people cowtail to him because its easier.

but really he is just a worthless piece of trash and should be remanded to solidarity where he would do less damage to the community.

he should be barred from office for misuse of power and resources.

No one who would be good at the job wants it.  Anyone who has the ability to effectively handle that workload at that level is going to be a CEO somewhere and make 100x what the President makes with none of the notoriety and hatred that comes with being President.

Yeah but this is the future of our country we're talkin about!  My life, your life, some guys kids!  Total annihilation if we don't get it right eventually.  Always with the money, when's enough enough?!?  You'd think someone who's rich AF and thinks they can do it would be a patriot and take one for the team.  which president(s) in history have the best claim to fame as "greatest president ever?"  Jw

fact is no one person should really have the job. and measures should be put in place to ward against conspiracies to act together in each others favor.

because while the role is mostly as a figurehead the damage that can be done when a person in authority abuses power is enough to destroy any community.

even small communities because the frustration of corruption causes the best people in a community to silently get up and leave.

not everyone is a loud obnoxious advocate for fairness like i am. nor do i feel im among "the best people" as in many situations i am completely self serving.

but the best way to keep power from corruption is dilution of power. the more absolute the power the more likely for corruption. we now have a slanted and corrupt supreme court... it could be argued tho less effectively that it was somewhat corrupt BEFORE trump ruined it, but now it loses power because of the damage trump has done.

if there was better over site of the court... say a congressional ethics board which could remand a justice to a lower court without need for much pomp and circumstance, you would likely see much less inappropriate behavior from the bench.

the checks and balances of yesterday lack the teeth they once did as longer term alliances hold great enough impact to sacrifice players in the short term for long term goals.

i feel this is a modern plague.

by diluting the presidential powers to a comitee of ranked choices you could better serve the community with less effect from corrupt actors.

The things you're describing are systemic, of course.  Our system was put in place nearly 250 years ago, with some minor changes along the way.  It doesn't matter what system humans create.  Other humans will find a way to exploit its weaknesses.  So far, America is still running fine, so I don't see any major public outcry for a revamp.  Still, these things always do start small, and maybe we'll see more public pressure for actual change.  Just keep raging against the machine, bro.  You might be America's only hope.

Since we have term limits, there is no such thing as finding the best forever cause you could not keep them.  This of course in my mind is our strength. We have a habit of going back and fourth between parties and this sorta lets problems arrive but hopefully not be long lasting.  We can't really take that chance this time around cause the republicans' got rid of their platform and just went with trump.  So no choice for a bit till they learn wanting to have a king does not fly.

the greatest dilution of power is equal and direct democracy.

now i think we would all agree that we cant all sit in the situation room and vote on taking the shot on bin laden.

but..we can have proxies to our votes which we can shift, with time limits of maybe every 2 weeks or something which would limit the people in powers ability to stay corrupt if they were corrupt.

one of the moves supposedly trump considered was having the military seize voting machines and declaring martial law which is a scary thought that we could lose our power so easily to someone so unworthy.

A lot of problems require long-term solutions.  Direct democracy is very fickle, which would make such solutions unworkable.  Switching leaders too often has the same problem.  People need enough time to get something in place and work it over time.

Corruption is always an issue, but the answer isn't to completely eliminate the power structure.

The way it is now, if we don't screw up and let somebody change it, is we can afford to lose and live through it cause hope is alive in four years and eight is the most we can be hurt outside of just our own choices.  This allows us to lose and not have to resort to guns for change but just time instead.  I do agree that if you were the one being hung by a mob, you might not appreciate pure democracy.  Time wise, I think we have it about right now.

Imagine no constitutional limitations and direct democracy.  We'd probably have some states reinstating slavery.  There is no question that certain states would have an official religion.

i dont agree with slavory and i dont agree with religions.

however. i think they are short term probalem that solve themselves... really ugly bad problems but people would move.

i dont think larger countries work well. also direct democracy via proxy would probably have longer term leaders than not as when things are running well people tend to leave them alone fdr would have been king and so would have george washington.

i dont see a problem with long term leaders if they know they are out if they fuck up.

the authorities should fear the community never the other way around.

when you get assholes with power who dont respect the community they go around silencing people who tell the truth about them like tyrannical idiots.

If some in the right are too successful we may have an official religion and a government run by it regardless of the constitution.  We have officials now elected working towards just that goal or at least using that goal for personal power.

People do fear the authorities, but not leaders.  People fear cops far more than any congressperson.  I agree with you about the potential for leaders to silence dissent, though.  This is why we have and need a Constitution.  Without freedom of speech, there is no freedom whatsoever.

They didn't move during the Spanish inquisition.  Most just suffer in my mind and so getting it right as possible first is a commendable goal.  I don't really know what is best but I do know what trump tried to do is bad.

i think an insurrection that was rooted in freedom and equality would have succeeded.

its the oppressive nature of the jan 6rs that was their downfall.

of course they moved during the inquisition.
