It's a matter of taste. Also Parafilm is expensive compared to what I'm using. Here's a pic of when I was using Parafilm, it's on the left. I used it, learned to stretch it correctly, but didn't like it. Some people like it. Some people are even elitist about it.


The grafting tape I use is very much like when people cut off a roll of cling tape, which I've done too, but without the work or breathing toxic fumes.

I like this better. If you order it from alibaba and wait a month or two, it's almost free.

The micropore tape isn't always needed, I add it because once in a while it unrolls from the pate, especially if you're leaving them extra long to get plins to clone.

125 ft roll of parafilm will wrap 3000 plates and costs 40-50 $.  Personally, I don’t find that expensive.  It’s easy to use and works great. If people think it’s elitist, it’s likely those not using it.  And yeah, it’s all personal preference.

I'm fairly certain it'll be the same if I do go for parafilm but even on amazon I get 1000ft of grafting tape for $12. Even micropore is 23 for 12 rolls of 10 yard each (30feetx12=360).

Yeah, cling is a bitch to cut well and little hanging pieces tend to snag and fuck up the film coming off the roll.

I imagine the stickyness of the parafilm also makes handling a lot easier, it takes some interesting finger movements to hold the plate and grafting tape to it... Glad I took up the rubik's cube
