What does ESS stand for?

In your experience, is LC absolutely necessary for bottle grows?

It feels strange and sad to post on a thread by someone who left us... Yet on the other hand, it kinda honours his memory... πŸ˜•

ESS it's Envy Super Strain. Cross of KSSS and PE made by Muda.

I don't use LC. I've used agar and mostly use millet to noc bottles, g2g style, now.

Photo from yesterday. 1905g wet, still in dehydrator. More bottles to come, I've got a cheap UK source of 32 oz PP5s. Fattest bottle got 190-something gram wet.

Love to see Muda's Tek still delivering. Muda was one of the best cultivators around, IMO. To me, he's up there with PW and EYA for growers whose Tek's helped folks the most.

Mush love peeps! Wondering if anyone has experience with simplifying these recipes? My usual goto has been popcorn or rgs, g2g or a2g, then spawn to straight coir in a shoebox.

Any reason to not just do grain and coir in bottles? I have some bottles going aka vtek, and those little guys just keep popping a few mushies a week since January. Some were straight grain, some cased with coir, some grain and coir mixed. I honestly can’t tell a difference. Maybe get bigger and more fruit out of the strait grain? But hard to say. They all produced fruits.

Maybe if the grain wasn’t inoculated first, the coir would inhibit colonization if too high a percentage? Like 50/50?

Thanks for any and all advices and experience. Mush respect Muda, rip:mushroom2:

I ran Muda's coir recipe but with just grain and coir for a while. Just drop the bran, dog food and w/e else. Great flushes. I've switched up the ratios recently though.

I do about 1/2 cup of dry rye, 30g of dry coir and around 275-300ml of water per bottle. Add verm at thy end to adjust for field capacity before sterilizing.

I've also done just rye and straw pellets as well as rye and hardwood fuel pellets

Yep. Some of my first grows had WC added. It wasn't worth the trouble of pasteurizing for my time, but one thing I remember is a little bit goes a long way. If you add too much, your sub will become a muddy mess.

That canopy somewhat above is straight coir:grains. I use 1:1 to 1:2 coir:grains for bottles. I've tried organic chicken poop in different concentrations without any difference.

I speculate mixing some liquid nutrient like grain hydration water into the coir hydration water might help small myc pieces from well shredded LCs/LIs to recover faster. I hydrate my grains separately from coir in an Insta Pot with just enough water to not leave grain water left. I've strayed quite from the original recipe.

That's with grass seeds in closed containers or am I confusing teks? I'm always up to trying something new.
