The Swami Way of Wisdom
    #2821543 -

Many people have asked what is my philosophy, my way. There are definite reasons why I do not speak or have not spoken on this.

What I offer is mundane and not new and exciting. There is no talk of entities, powerful energies rising out of the head, or pre-birth memories. "My way" (it sounds silly when I write that as everything is borrowed) is to be as grounded as possible. Oh yes, dreaming and imagination are still a large part, but one's feet must remain planted on the earth.

1. Take care of your body. Simple. Neither over-train nor-undertrain. Be relaxed, not fanatic nor sloppy.

2. Take care of your friends. Be honest straight and true. Mean what you say.

3. Constantly release guilt, worry, and anxiety. Forgive, forgive, forgive.

4. Have fun for Krist's sake. Never forget how to play and laugh (especially at yourself).

5. Take pride in whatever you do; whether washing dishes, writing music or building a house. Do it well and with care and precision. (props to the buddha)

6. Learn something new everyday; about yourself, about the people you love, about your world.

Real magic ONLY HAPPENS peripherally. You cannot go directly to it so stop looking.

Need I continue with these tired old platitudes? Y'all get the picture. *Yawn* I know it is a letdown. Nothing new here, now you can move along folks to the threads on crystals and chants and crop circles...

This is a fine philosophy to me, and I agree with all of these points, but please elaborate on this statement: Real magic ONLY HAPPENS peripherally. You cannot go directly to it so stop looking.

It is like trying to force love or happiness.

Go on a hike in a forest on a warm, clear, blue-sky day. Look under a rock, behind a tree, under a leaf and try to find some joy.

Go to a party and look in the refridgerator or in the CD stack for some fun.

Why are "players" (sexual addicts) rarely happy? Because they are focused on trying extra hard to get satisfaction from their loins.

The really "good stuff" is always a by-product; it comes when you are relaxed about the outcome.

This is all basic Zen BS...

Real magic would never sell you short by just giving itself up. Where would the mystique be in that?

Indeed. It really all boils down to genuine compassion and understanding that life really isnt as serious as you may think. Truth is simplicity. Its a shame not everyone is looking to master themselves.

I follow a very similiar path as yours, but theres still some reprogramming left to do before I'm where I want to be with this physical representation of myself.

I wish you (and everyone as compassionate as you seem to be, and EVERYONE ELSE) infinite peace, happiness, and an enjoyable journey wherever your Way leads you.

my wick will burn out.

The philosophy you represented here is anything but "tired old platitudes". Having a personal philosophy and a moral code to live by is most important. Many well meaning people slide into corruption and moral degradation by not having ever thought out their morals and ethics. Crystals, cards, drums, and chants and the like don't mean shit. They are merely paraphenalia that usually belong to other cultures and traditions. They obscure what mysticism is all about. The rabbit hole goes way deeper than the use of such souvenirs and talk of astral projection. How you live and treat others is THE core of spiritualism. You don't need to dance around a fire or sing in church to feel the spirit. The spirit resides in all of these everyday things you mentioned. Being spiritual is not a once a week/month/year/day thing. It is an every second of every moment of every hour thing. I am interested in shamanism because I think primitive cultures are interesting to study and that there is some merit in these old fashioned ideas. I don't wear feathers beating a drum around a fire. I digested the deeper aspects of it seeing the world view it presents. This concerns attitudes towards nature, your fellow man, and your peronal conduct.

Note to mods: that might be cool for every member who chooses with so many posts or so many years on the shroomery, to put these little mini-philosophies in a special folder or as part of the personal file.

I eagerly await your perspective, FG.

I've been trying and trying to see if there's anything you missed or if there's anything I can contend, and well there's not and I can't.

Big thumbs up, succinct post

you could run for president.

not sure why krist is the beneficiary in (4)
or why you dragged a buddha into this (5)
then you framed majick in terms of reality and periphery
but we are all unfinished works
and (I hope) so is your platform.

great stuff man, if you followed these tenents your whole life would be shameless. If everyone did, the world could be a much better place.

For me, i could absorb all these tenets into my life and still need something more though. For me, a 'way of wisdom' must contain an element of the transcendent, some method or way of direct experience of 'the other' of 'god'

i know a main part of knowing god is interacting with his creation in a positive loving manner, like the way you have outlined, but it IS possible to experience magic directly as well.

or maybe im just young, naivete and stupid?

I guess the reason for pushing magic to the periphery is that the "magic" of experiencing ongoing creation is indescribable.
