Has anyone tried a hairdryer or heat gun to remove condensation?  Is that a bad idea given the plates are wrapped in plastic wrap?

I have a couple of spare plates and didn’t want to just ruin them if this has already been tried.

You can set a cup of hot water on the lids and the condensation will clear off of them. But it will come back again.

So my LC is quite colonized and I put some drops on agar for both LC media bottles...

What am I looking for in terms of contamination/bacterial exactly?

Also I love LC so far, only in 7 days it's ready and if I can get it to be clean I might actually do G2G if you guys think that's a good idea?

Well for a start, there shouldn't be any growth exept from the mycelium whatsoever.

If you only have mycelium growing, and not showing any signes of contaminations, that's what your aiming for

The LC media bottles passed the turbidity test and it's fairly clear although I used tap water and I heard that distilled is clearer...

I guess I'll post again in a couple days with my agar cups to let you guys take a look...

Oh yea, and should I keep it in fridge or just in cubbard, my home is about 60-70F all the time with about 50'ish humidity...

Thanks...

I doubted a friend.

A very cool member here sent me 2 Yeti qtips swabs.
I used 1 to streak 4 plates and they all grew a lot of nothing...so I kinda thought he had swabbed nothing or not sporulating fruits

Except this one (13 days later which seems like forever for fresh spores)

1 single very lonely colonie, looking extremely clean!!!

Thank you again Screwup!

I busted out the microscope and carefully found the two slowest spores I could find to send to you

Rubbing a swab across the surface of a plate is not a good way to germinate spores because the spores are too tightly stuck to the swab. You're much better off using a scalpel or tweezers to pull fibers off the swab and placing them onto the plate

I like to cut a swab into 4 petals and use it to knock 4 plates.

more often than not I'll just jam the whole damn swab into the agar lol. Send a T1, if not germ plate wedge to grain

What do you cut it onto? The 1st plate (agar would look like WW2)? The inside of a plate cover?

But that only works so often lol

IDK man. Sounds to me like dirty spores or bad technique. I've got about a dozen pics somewhere of swab sticks, sticking straight out of clean myc on a germ plate

I've got a set of PE swabs from a certain member that I'm so confident in I think I'm just going to just snip the tip into a grain jar

Did you ever get that AA+ cleaned up?

???

That AA was super clean all along. The discoloration you see is only the myc eating the colored grain water

(it does that on literally all my plates. The 2 side x side pics where meant to show clean vs not clean)
