Might be the wrong page, but I'm new to growing for the most part. I have supposed B+ spores for this attempt to grow but I'm confused on what I'm seeing exactly. Is this a different strain, contaminated, or am I just not knowledgeable?

What in the world is going on here..? Keep it growing!!!

Pretty sure that’s oyster contamination. Blue oyster to be specific.

Here are some picts.  One cake is fruiting while the other is not.  They were treated exactly the same.  Can I redunk the one that never started, reroll it and try to fruit it again?  Is there anything else that I can try/ ought to do?

Thanks!

Looks like the blob fish variety. Just a dunk should suffice. Depending on what those are, they might do better with a coir roll. :mushroom2:

Thanks!  The blob is Yeti - no idea why it grew that way??  The other mushies seem to be growing OK.  I hope they are safe?  I'm on the steep learning curve.

The dormant cake is B+. I have no idea why it never pinned.  There is no contam that I can see??  I will try to dunk it tonight and re-roll tomorrow.

Cool, and the blobs are absolutely safe. Harvest when they stop growing and soften if I remember correctly.  I haven't delved into the yeti yet. :mushroom2:

That's the answer I was looking for thankyou. I have messed around a few times years back always successful.need bulk atm. What technique would you use. I need way more than 1 lb.

Hmm, must be eating a whole bunch huh?
Theres a search function for a reason, if you wanna grow bulk theres plenty of good write ups. If I were you I'd start w PF tek and work your way up though. You're not gonna just be able to start growing lbs without getting the basics down first.

:whathesaid:

I feel like sometimes Ashtray is a bit "punchy" in his posts to newcomers but this time I stand by him 100%.

You arrive here and basically ask how to grow pounds instantly without doing any research. Do your homeworks, read, start small, people may be more inclined to help you if you made some efforts first.

PS: Telling us you need to grow many pounds is not relevant and probably something you do not need to share.

That it for the harsh part. Now the sweet one:

Looks like it's contaminated with some kind of oyster mushroom. That's not P. cubensis.

Quick question:
Would using medium grade verm instead of fine in a CV mono have any measurable adverse effect on mycelial growth? (could impede growth because less surface area to colonize?)

Many Teks mention to use fine or medium. I believe that using coarse could change the water ratio a bit but even there. You for sure are fine with medium.  If you are worried and have xtra time, you can crumble smaller using a big strainer or even your hands!

Whichever is easier to get.
I really like wheat and rye berries. However I don't go out of my way to find them. WBS and oats are what I can source locally.
Oats suck IMO so I use wbs. I'm a little old school I still clean out all the floaters but other than that I use it how it comes.

Thanks for your answer, I guess after I soak, like with red milo they suggest 24hr soak/15 boil, I'd have to cut open a milo and look how it seems hydrated then learn what time to boil to get a perfect milo!?

Other grains I guess I'll have to just learn as I go but with soaking most say 12-24 which is kinda vague to me? In my mind it seems a balance between soaking and boiling!

It reminds me of drying and curing weed which is different between the strains so I'm confused and will have to learn as I go...

So idk I feel like milo would be hard to check the inside of being it is so small. I could picture myself chopping a finger tip off trying lol.
I've never prepped straight milo just the mix in my wbs.
As far as the soak time I don't think it matters too much. I soak until I can get around to it. I wouldn't go much more than 24hrs because the grain will start to ferment after awhile but less than 24 is fine. If I'm not mistaken a lot of people don't even do a soak anymore.
I still do for sure but like I said I'm old school. Still rinse grains, still remove floaters, still soak, still use gypsum when soaking. Who knows I still don't all wrong.

There is a no prep tek for Milo. Or maybe Millet.
Admittedly I may have gotten the two confused but I feel like they are both might near the same grain one is a smidge bigger than the other.

I'm getting a little slower in my old age.

If I wasn't so buzzed already I'd find the possibly non existent tek for you.

Edit: here's one from Mr. Sir Ham Loafington himself.

No soak indeed but admittedly I didn't read through it myself. Ok off to bed now.
