My sad attempt at Gandalf :frown: I can't decide if these fruits would be worth cloning or drying or if it should just get composted. Probably going to the compost heap though. Maybe round two will go a little better

You've got a better set up than me! I work in my walk-in closet, on top of my dresser, and I have to stand and hunch over  The things we do for love (of mycology).

Sadly I have no time to consume..I suppose I could dry them and just label the bag 'tea'. May as well, the fruits look 'good' and I've already got the dehydrator running. I'll have to chop them down after I grab some swabs from another shoebox - don't want to be spreading those spores any further than I have to

Spotted a couple of pins in this Jack Frost tub today. Finally!

Cosmoplex- This is my first time trying tampanensis, so I'm pretty pleased with how things are going so far! Not sure when to pick them. Spawned 3/17, so 12 days in. After a lot of waiting, I gave up on looking for plate pins, though I'll be trying again with a different agar recipe.

That’s a lot of fruit on that cosmoplex. Is that from MS? I can’t wait to run some of my cosmoplex tamps. Been too busy with the woodlovers

Excellent work Mojave, that pinset is awesome and the color on the fruits looks better than what I typically get.  You must have the conditions better set than me!

I’m also going to share (ahem) oyster cultures (when I start them) by drying the grains out and then scooping 5 or so kernels into swab packs (they’re already sterile and cheap and on hand) and then you can mail cultures with a stamp   1 kernel per plate would work fine I’d say.. just jam them into the agar

Nice Bigfoot! I forgot who else does this now, great idea though whoever came up with it, makes perfect sense! Might even start doing this myself. I picked up a load of the little 5ml cryo vials dirt cheap for doing the nutrient free water storage thing. Could maybe put a single grain into these too for dry storage and see how they keep!

Also a very good idea Faht! I wonder how that would be for mailing internationally, maybe even more reliable than a swab?

bigfootscreepyuncl said:
Just to add to that: I don't even smoosh the grains into the agar, they just sit right on top and do their thing! 1 grain would be plenty but they came out of the jar much faster than I expected when I did the yeti plate lol.

Also, I've tested this with grain that was at least a year old, but I think it was closer to 18 months old and it worked just fine
