I'm not familiar with the grow kit from homestead so I won't comment on that. As for your other questions, I would start reading everything you can in the grow/find section on this site. I would personally recommend the magic mushroom growers guide as a beginning method. It is basically just and improved version of the PF tek. As for books, The mushroom cultivator by Paul Stamets is a valuable resource for info. Also, stick around here and read the boards. You'll learn a lot just by hearing about other people's success and failure. Growing shrooms is a lot of fun, good luck.

Alright!!Glad to hear you are going to give a shot at growing. Using the MMGG (magic mushroom grower's guide has worked well for my FOAF (friend of a friend). I would also strongly suggest reading every thing you can on this sight. Tons of information in these boards alone, not to mention the Grow/find section. Take care and good luck, it isn't as hard as you might think. Just keep everything as clean as you can and you will do fine. In addition, be patient. It is hard to do but good things come to those who wait. -peace- ------------------ easy

Might I suggest building a glove box to do transfers in? I hear that Homestead doesn't use syringes but uses an innoculation loop and a spore print. One of these would raise your success rate tremendously. They are very simple to build. You can get all of the materials for <$20 if you shop around. The instructions are in the Grow/Find section under P. Cubensis teks under 9er's technique. Let us know if yu decide to do it and how it turns out. You will find the atmosphere on these boards is really laid back as long as your posts aren't annoying (which yours isn't). I see that Mr. Wicky beat me this time in recommending The Mushroom Cultivator. I second that motion. Peace, Wildman

Thanks alot for the response! Yeah, I'll check out the information in the grow section of the site.Where can I get a copy of the MMGG and Mushroom cultivators guide. So I take it i'd get better results using inocultation instead of syringes.Sorta familar with inoculation (Bio Major). Now to just wait for my kit and read some faqs and txt files It should take abouta month right before i can expect results? (I know i gotta go off and read) Wildman you recommend I build a glovebox to do the inoculation in instead of using a terranium? whats the difference/advantageThanks again guys, i'll probably have more q's later

Found the Growers Guide, thanks! Wildman, 9'ers glovebox looks like a great growing box. Most of the parts are stuff you can get cheaply at like walmart, home depot, etc. Already got most of the stuff including fan, thanks for the help.

Terrariums are meant for growth. A glove box is made for applying sterile technique during inoculation, syringe making, and spore print manufacture. Your best bet would be to use syringes, but since you are a Biology major, inoculations should be old hat to you. You are in for a good time, so do all of the required reading. Speaking of reading, don't just read one text. Yes, it may explain step by step instructions for cultivating, but what one needs is a good idea of WHY things are done in such a way. This will lead to developing your own methods and not just be a slave to another's. Now, mind you, I don't mean you shouldn't follow one guide step by step, because that is the key to success for first timers, but don't be a stranger to other methods. <- I hope that last idea is coherent. Peace, Wildman
