So...are you saying you inoculated while the agar was still hot?
I must have that wrong but, it's SOP to at least let them cool down.

We all have masks these daze, and an xacto works fine.
Just sayin, it's all a very captivating endeavor.

It is very captivating, rewarding and challenging too.

I mean the agar was hot poured then i waited a few minutes till it looked solid then i inoculated. I had poured a plate before PCing to test the recipie and it went solid quick so I figured i was good to go.

It looks like bacteria but there was enough syringe liquid to swish it around a little when it was first poured. And the fact that the 5 other plates only have white growth makes me think I contammed the syringe if it is bacterial.

Im really hoping to get some GT myc cause the other type may not even be cubensis, the vendor can't confirm species only knows it as 'teonancatl' :mushroom2:

Its funny, if you have agar powder and say mea in one bag all mixed up, how can you be sure of your measurements?

Hey, I got nothing to gain by sharing.

They also sell the individual ingredients, plates and other lab equipment.

The premix is homogenized and has a certificate of analysis for what you’re getting by batch.

I understand being skeptical of you know, some dude on Instagram, but anyway...when I get some I’ll show what it does.

All the discussion of food coloring for agar that I have read discuss Red Dye # this and Blue dye #that... with credible anecdotes of problems with pinks, purples, magentas containing a dye with possible fungal inhibitors...

Anybody ever worked with "Plant Based Food Coloring" in their mixes.

Ingredients are:

Red: Vegetable Glycerin, Invert Sugar, Water, Red Radish Juice Concentrate (Color), Citric Acid. Blue: Vegetable Glycerin, Water, Trehalose, Spirulina Extract (Color), Sodium Citrate. Green: Vegetable Glycerin, Water, Polysorbate 80 (Emulsifier), Trehalose, Spirulina Extract (Color), Turmeric (Color), Sodium Citrate. Yellow: Vegetable Glycerin, Water, Polysorbate 80 (Emulsifier), Turmeric (Color).

Sodium Citrate and Citric acid?

Other than Tumeric, which I swear an old hippy I know used to treat a toe fungus once, everything else sounds like sugar or nutrient...

I tried a natural brand and all the colors broke down in the pc to baby shit green or some other ugly color. Let us know if you find one that holds its color through the cycle though. Could of just been the brand I tried

No worries bro...I prefer separate mostly so I can change the nute levels. Premade you're locked into what you get.

I did the 'ol dum-dum noob step, and followed the UB subreddit, but fortunately they also link to here. Figured that if I'm going to do it again, might as well do it right. Plus, I think my spore syringes may have contam because I got the same contamination both times I tried the UB Tek.

Been researching non-stop for the last month or so, and I think I'm finally ready to do this thing. Just waiting on supplies.

Decided to go with agar to WBS to shoebox fruiting, based off of supplies I had for UB and recommendations from here.

Right on Tormato! It's like choosing in a candy store or working in a lab.
Can't wait to try my next recipie.
6.5g 1.3% LME, 8G 1.6% Agar, bottled water, no color.
I'm looking for low nutrients, kinda soft, super clear, no color.
Plus the last batch auto-contam rate had a significant reduction!

Once you do your own agar you will realize how stupidly simple it is and wonder why you held out for so long. Then next you will say to yourself "why the fuck am injecting spores into a bag of rice and why is everyone on Reddit retarded when it comes to mush cult?".

Both were the case for me.

Its a contam. It was a really old plate that was in storage and hadn't been inoculated yet.
