3 has mold on the left. The others look fine backlit, but need to see the surface to be sure.

Just take small pieces that are as far away from the contamination as possible and pray. I would guess they could be saved, it may just need a lot of transfers to become clean.

Update on my clear leading edge transfer. The two first photos are that transfer grown out a few days. last photo is the sample plate. Looks like its cube. Might not be clean tho.

Interesting.

How long is too long to wait before transferring? I have 3 plates I was trying to isolate but I forgot to do the transfers like a week or two ago now they've grown to the edges of the plate. Still just as thin and wispy, how do you people get such dense growth!

I forgot a shiitake plate full of contam, for 8 months. . .
Transferred to a fresh plate. . .
Took it's time to start moving again yet started. . .

Looks pretty much like my other cube plates. I'm no expert tho. But I've been doing plates for 10 years.

The first 2 resemble myc but the plate you took the transfers from does not.

back a few days we all chatted about these plates of mine.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26496493#26496493

Some folks thought my plates were healthy cubes... and that soft agar can cause clear leading edges, some thought the clear leading edge was a contam. But most thought the original plates were cubes. I've been poorly fruiting these plates. I got no question the third plate is cube.

There could be mush myc in there, but the mold is dominant.
I have a culture with the same issues. I have not been able to clean it up. Got a few going in bottles to try to get a couple fruits to clone, but keeping my hopes in check.

Just for my curiosity and learning, what is the sign that indicates mold is present? What in the culture indicates and shows that? So I can learn for identification purposes.

Also, what is the best place and temperature to keep your transfers and plates? Mine were all clear of condensation yesterday, but today I have very light condensation on the inside of the glass of my no pours. I am keeping them in a box in my room. Is it getting too warm or hot or something?

Mush myc grows in a radial pattern, out from the center, even the fuzzy type. Mold looks more like polyfil, just growing randomly to fill the space.

I've done some MS to agar and it didn't go so well.  The plates had high condensation when inoculating, and in hind sight the whole attempt was a mess.  I have new "dry' plates ready to go.  With my novice skill set, any opinions on what would be less error-prone to start with, MS or print?
