Do you think Cinctulus will produce stones on plates if you keep them for long enough? Just like Ps. Mexicana does. If so one could clone them.

Yes, but only if the agar medium  is very rich in nutrients.

Ummmm... Looks like ya got something funky growing there.  Ya might wanna toss out that dish!  Hahaha!  So are those the first blue pearls shot of this thread?  What a great pic.  I wonder if scraping up some of the baby blues and using that for innoc would select for blue stone production.  Congratulations Sporulator for being in the lead!  Very curious to watch your grow.  Thank you for sharing.

Oh wow great. What recipe did you use for this picture?

I usually use grain water. Sometimes with coffee added.

      Picture on the left:

      50 gr. Malt extract (pulverized)
10 gr. Brewer's yeast (dried, pulverized)
      1 L water
filtered and pH value adjusted to 4.3 with tartaric acid

first mention i've read of adjusting agar media pH. and quite acidic at that. is this your default recipe? and do you use cream of tartar, or legit tartaric acid?

No, I'm not in the lead here. The picture was taken years ago.

Actually my intention is to grow big sized sclerotia in liquid culture. To me this would be the smartest way to grow blue pearls.

Haha well that's still a cool pic, thanks for sharing it.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!  Now that's a really sexy idea!  I would loooove to see you do that!  Just a week ago I semi-jokingly semi-seriously posted on a Mexicana A thread that that'd be a cool thing to do.  Pleeeease share your adventure doing that, successes & failures, and perhaps I'd make a sideline experimental jar along with you.  Has anyone ever succeeded growing stones (of any kind) in LC?

I don't know, so let's find out if it works.  :goodluck:

Would it help, for pearls, to add agar to produce a more slurried media?

Well or add some solids. Don't truffles form around objects?

Sporulator awesome info. Thanks for popping by and dropping some knowledge. Haven't heard of adjusting agar pH but that makes a lot of sense. My hericiums were always very sluggish on agar and even lc's. Wonder what kind of impact that'll make on those and my other pans.

*** Update for Spores Mailout ***

In the old giveaway thread you can see our publicly visible discussions about the prints.  All of us are still waiting for the postal services to deliver them to us.  Soon as we receive them we will turn them around to resend to everyone who claimed them at the giveaway.  Thank you for your patience.  The snail mail will eventually arrive at your door to join in the fun here on this thread.

Create a PERMANENT Markeplace thread for spore prints here:

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26057664

If you need a print then please go to this thread to PM someone to hook you up.

If you have prints that you would be so kind as to share with others then please post here.  Thank you in advance for your generosity!

If you fruit some from this Blue Pearls adventure please consider pledging a few of your prints from your first batch as a "pay-it-forward" kind of thing.  Hopefully in the future as new people discover this thread, others who have ventured before them can provide a print, and this could be sustainable for others months, maybe even years, from now.

@Sporulator

Do cincts need a casing layer?

If so, what do you use?

I'm not to this point yet.  Still on agar but in about 3 weeks I'm gonna start.
