bruising blue
    #2656868 - 05/09/04 01:23 PM (19 years, 11 months ago)

do B+ cubes bruise blue? and if they do is it possible that some might not? and if that is so does that then mean the potency is decreased from say conditions/subrstrate..those kind of factors? Becasue i grew cubensis B+ outdoors..and this isn't as controlled as say the pf tek and so im wondering if these are possibly something else then cubensis..I will post pictures if it is true that B+ DOES bruise blue so i can get an I.D...Thanks in advance.
BTW this is a pic of my cubes starting to grow

I think all cubensis bruise blue. Wait for them to mature and you will be able to tell more accuratly if they are actually cubensis growing.

So if a mushroom bruise blue is it worthless ? or is it still ok to eat it when it matures (if it matures).

Then they told you wrong. Just because something bruises blue doesnt mean it is safe. I mean sure, you have a high chance that you are safe, but its much safer to get a correct ID then consume. Goto the hunting forum and ask "If I find a mushroom that bruises blue, I can assume it is safe to eat, right?".

Im not even talking about that, Im talking about CUBENSIS mushroom that bruises BLUE is STILL SAFE TO EAT, I wasnt talking about IDing.

B+ was developed in a lab.

It is not a wild cube... although I imagine it could become one if some cows ate some b+ spores.

IME, B+ does not bruise as severely as... say EQ or Hawaiian (which may turn your mouth blue while chewing!)... but this does not seem to effect potency. I enjoy a b+ trip.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I didn't want to start a whole new thread with a question that could probably be answered quickly:

I've read up and searched about blueing and its causes and effects. But my questions are: Can shrooms still blue after they're dry? Does it depend on how they are handled? Is it easier for a shroom to blue while fresh than when dry?

Thanks!

My first ever crop is drying right now! Yay I'm excited.

its the active ingredients that get you high reacting with air when you put your Dry shrooms in some warm water and mash it with a fork you will see it turn blue try it. dont confuse black with blue if you have rotten shrooms they aint safe to eat.
