Yes - The ITS sequence of Psilocybe subaeruginsacens and P. ovoideocystidiata match 639/656(97%), easily enough to separate them.

They aren't wrong, but they are cultivated from spore prints received in the mail.  The ITS sequences from Africa I have posted have been for P. cyanescens and P. subaeruginascens.

I feel blessed - as a newcomer to the forum to have been so quickly pointed in the right direction - again thank you too all for the interest and sharing of knowledge on my find.
I have just found fellow member (olive)s tek to cultivating p.subaerugiosa (thank you olive...).....wow!!...Ive been so inspired...have already added a thin layer of some old pine chips over the area and have got some small pieces of stem bottoms in some wet cardboard on the go....the journey has now began...

Got some more rainy weather closing in so have decided to go take a walk in a nature reserve close by this weekend  and see what I can find.
It is very swampy and wet.
Ill post up some pics if I find any thing of interest.

I would definitely make spore prints, cultivating your own is super easy, it just looks intimidating,  but once you do it, you will see the simplicity of it all.

Agar is the best way to make sure that you have clean mycelium,  it allows you to clean up any contaminants before you put it in jars.

Just a small update for those that were interested in my recent find in the garden...
I added a thin layer of old pine chips to the pathway where I discovered the mushrooms.

It seems that the mycelium has appreciated it and is peeking thru the chips here and there..

There has been abit of rain about and a few more fruits have popped up here and there.....much to the enjoyment of a few snails and slugs that have been munching on them ;but ive been leaving them to spread their spores and just hoping the mycelium will grow strongly into the chips im laying down.

So these p.subaeruginascens have made a small appearance in my garden again.

They have not come up where they first appeared in my vegetable garden path but are now appearing about a meter away on pieces of a old fallen down tree.
Looks like the mycelial network is all over it.


Not many...

Enough for some more prints and have tried cloning some of the larger fruits.

This fits well with what I consider to be P. subaeruginascens, but my concept of this species might change as more data comes in.
