I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

When a well renowned dictionary producer gets ‘woke’, that is indeed scary.  Have you not seen the definition that Enlil is posting for ‘race’?  That’s some 1984 level reprogramming going on.

I have no doubt that the Mirriam-Webster dictionary has been infiltrated by hard left individuals, and that is terrifying.

Honestly, the real issue is people (myself included) relying upon a dictionary as an authority of word meanings in the first place
a dictionary is meant to be descriptive, and explain the use of commonly existing language
but more and more, see people refer to a dictionary in support of assertions about the meaning of words
rather than dissect and discuss the nuance of the ideas the words are being used to convey

think we used to refer to them as grammar Nazis :grammarnazi:
but lately a push to tie Nazi to Nationalism and White Power has polluted the definition of Nazi sufficintly
that the idea of a Grammatical Nationalist endorsing use of Correction Fluid seems utterly absurd
it used to represent a view of racial purity (ie: inherent traits) more than ties to nationalistic (ie: socially defined) values
and suddenly the idea of a purity of language being Nazish really fell off

The term ‘woke’ is one of the biggest virtue signals.

I remember when it was something that was said on infowars but now the snowflakes have appropriated it.  It’s hollow. Devoid of any meaning.
