Well, you're free to make your assumptions, but I'm not glorifying Nietzsche's pain in the slightest... I do wonder if something about the mix between his pain and his ingenious nature might have created a strange mutation.  Is that so wrong?

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

I agree. I see nothing magical about the concept of love. IMO on close examination it's nothing but a glorified liking of something. And as I've said we like what we "love" and so it's conditional and imo again, meaningless in any larger sense.

And yes we are born from stardust (metaphorically but close to correct) and to stardust (compost) we return.  As far as we can tell from close observation that's about all there is to it and it's the same for slugs etc.  as it is for us.

Hell I wish there was more to it. A lot more, but why pretend I know something that I don't.  Science has been our best tool for understanding our reality. So I'll go with that until something better comes along. Which I hope it will soon but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanatos10. I'd suggest you re-evaluate every single thing that you think you know. It seems to me like you have the wrong idea on practically everything. I don't know you so I couldn't say for sure but based on everything you post, Your Wrong. About all of it. Now go do some reflecting. This is a forum for rational adults.

Frankly I'm with Thanatos 10  on this and you seem totally butthurt no matter what you claim. You've gotten all emo on us.

I just get frustrated when people just post their beliefs without any reason unless they make it clear that this is only an opinion. Also the mis-conceptions of the sciences by the "regular" folks is something I view as a major problem in the world today. The media has very successfully implanted a mental picture of the universe and different dynamics within that is not completely true. When I say not completely true, what I really mean is "wildly corrupted". I couldn't tell you if this is a malicious tactic to replace all religion with materialism or if its just done because the actual science isn't very "entertaining". In any case, "Hollywood" science is very corrupt. You know how you were told that Christopher Columbus discovered the "New World" when you were a kid but later on realized that not only is it highly unlikely, but the actual truth may very well be impossible to determine with absolute certainty. Well mainstream sciences the same way. Scientists are people with jobs. There not geniuses and there no better than any other person. They graduate and then they go get a job. When someone takes a job, they have to answer to their boss. Once money comes into the whole thing, corruption becomes the standard. Scientists don't work at magical labs that are dedicated to pure truth discoveries for the benefit of all. They work at places like Oil companies, the military, Pharma, etc...

The thing that does make me "Butthurt" is the fact that practically every "regular" person I talk too perceives me as living in some kind of "false reality" when it's actually quite the opposite. The thing that really frustrates me is that most people rarely grasp what I am saying here. I live my life with an emphasis on arriving at my own conclusions and to never assume anything I do not KNOW to be TRUE. I live as a human being. They live as programmed meat bags. I love them and I want to discover things with them but they hate me because they cannot switch the focus of there gaze away from the shadow play on the cave wall. Plato wrote a very good allegory that describes this "Butthurt". You should read it if you haven't.

But the good news is that I'm very used to it and I'm never going to give up trying to reach people from a less axiomatic perspective. I'm just a kid in world full of grown ups and I don't give a fuck what they think they know about who I am, my intentions or what It is I actually know or don't know. I just want to gather information and reason out the lies.

It's a real shame you've gained no insight on these forums; I've gained TONS myself. More than I could ever have imagined when I first joined. They're obviously not the only thing that has helped me grow in the last 4.5 years, but they sure as fuck have had a significant effect on me. Even if 'me' is nothing more than a collection of electrical impulses, the fact that spending time here, with you people, has helped/caused me to become a kinder, more loving individual, is a pretty amazing thing.

I mean, could anybody really argue that becoming a kinder, more loving individual, spreading more good vibes in this world is anything other than a wonder of nature? Is it not that one thing that does separate us from the rest of the animals?

Your world sounds very simple. In a way I'm envious at how simple everything is for you. You description as love being, "nothing more than chemicals that compel people to breed" is amazing. I think he's just being flippant, although I also suspect there is something to what he says. There's a lot of people rebuking love on this board at the moment and few standing up for it. The fact is that he, and a few others here, are believers in the power of love over the power of pointlessness/meaninglessness.

You can feel the difference between a deeply loving human and one that doesn't buy into the whole 'love' thing when you meet them first person can't you? Sometimes I feel like I walk around in a world of spectres, and those that love deeply, and celebrate their humanity, just feel more 'there'.

Can you prove that it is love?

As for being kind as a wonder of nature, it isn't. There are cases of animals being kind to each other (even across species), it's nothing marvelous. Humans and animals aren't more than dust at the end of the day.

No I can't.  I don't buy into the love thing and yet I have lots of empathy and compassion for humans and there sufferings. I choose to like people whenever possible.

You paint a black and white picture here that only  exists in your mind imo.

I care very deeply for lots of people and animals without ever believing in the concept of unconditional love.

Keyword being "feel", and we all know that feelings aren't very accurate measures of reality. There is no real difference between the two people.

Love has no power, it's the idea of love that does. That's the result of the culture we live in. That love conquers all. But...it doesn't. It's just another fleeting feeling that we place too much importance in.

No, we are not "just like" every other animal in the animal kingdom. Once I see convincing evidence of any other anything anywhere that can communicate an idea linguistically too other animals, and then as a result those animals understand the idea and then all the animal go about turning that idea into an actual physical thing, then I will agree with you. I'm not talking about instinctual herd mentalities or another animals ability to feel magnetic fields. I'm simply talking about having an original, new idea, communicating the idea and then manifesting the idea into the objective world. Show me that and I'll agree. As far as "dust to dust", again, I know that my body came from my mothers body. As far as the first human, I DONT KNOW. If you think you know, your are a fool.

So what no two animals are exactly alike or hadn't you noticed. They are still animals.  Some use radar, some can fly across the continent to their home turf every year. It's all animal  still.  You have a hyperinflated egoic attachment to your species imo.  It's just another adaptation, a big prefrontal cortex.

So what that you came from your mother's body. She is descended from a rat like creature and somehow that came from nonliving material at the very beginnings of life on this planet.

No. He's "real" because he has possession of his own mind and he is able to listen and reason. He knows he doesn't know everything and he loves discovery.

I am a human being. My being is primarily based on human "emotional nonsense". Also the term "emotional non-sense" is fallacious and contradictory. Yes, I embrace emotion. I am not an animal. I am a man and within the mind of man there exists emotion. Are you actively denying that emotions are essential to a human experience?
